the damage of a 3

when i was a sophomore i got a 4 on the ap us history test, this year i got a 3 on the gov test (i didn't really study).

will it hurt my chances to get into oberlin and university of chicago if i listed my score for the ap gov test? or will it not make a difference?

For Georgetown and BC, I said I got a 3 on English, and I still got in. Granted, I got rejected from Yale and Dartmouth, but I don't think that would be significant enough for a rejection.

I didn't mention it to Brown, and I got in anyway!

I don't think AP test scores really make a difference in terms of Admission, it's just course placement that it matters. And I really don't think those colleges are going to think you're some horrible stupid for getting a 3 on an AP test

"the damage of a 3" lmfao

It's hard to say whether it causes damage or not. By formula, it does not. Most of the top schools do not have AP scores in their formulas when they are assessing academic prowess. However, if the score is there, like everything else there, the adcom assessing the file can holistically take it into consideration, and at the very top schools, every little thing can count, as more kids meet the academic standards and cuts than are accepted. I would just leave off the scores. They are not so important that they are going to be seeking them. But please, bear in mind this is JUST MY OPINION. NO facts to support this.. don't take it as more than that.

Best. Title. Ever.

hahahaha i'm glad you guys are enjoying it, i thought it was attention getting :)

The AP scores don't matter as much as how you performed in your class and how the overall rigor of your schedule compares to what's possible at your school and what your peers have done. I wouldn't worry about it at all, especially if you have other APs. The adcoms have other factors they consider much more important than that anyway. (I got a 3 on psych my freshman year and a 3 on music theory my second year and still was offered the top University of Chicago merit scholarship, if that's any consolation.)

I got a 3 on two exams and I got in to the University of Florida & GA Tech...damage of a 3...rofl...I was denied at CMU but I don't think it was the 3 that did it...

So good....

yes i love how i started something funny! lmfaowroflol !!!

At HYPS, it might quite possibly harm you, or it might not. UofC doesn't care about standardized test scores very much.

/</p>

if you're good enough to get into HYPS, a 3 on AP gov isn't going to break you.

One 3 won't, but a succession of them might suggest grade inflation.

true...........

Lols, "the damage of a 3." Geez...getting a bit melodramatic, aren't we?
