Hey there... as someone who applied to Vassar a couple of years ago, I'd recommend that everyone post their stats below in this thread along with their admissions results (accepted, deferred, rejected) below. It's really helpful for those who are interested in applying to Vassar this year (and in the future) as a reference tool...

Here's a suggested format to use. To make it work, copy and paste the code below and remove all the spaces in the code brackets.

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT Verbal: 660
[] SAT Math: 680
[] SAT Writing: 710
[] SAT Total: 2050 (two sittings)
[] SAT II: 630 (Math Level II), 610 (U.S. History), 670 (Biology), 650 (Literature)
[] ACT: Did not take
[] AP/IB taken/scores: 3 (English Language and Composition), 4 (U.S. History), 4 (Biology)...will be taking English Literature and Comp, European History and AB Calculus come May.
[] GPA weighted: Does not apply
[] GPA unweighted: 3.65 (just below A-)...downward trend and back up again (FR: 3.89, Soph: 3.73, Junior: 3.44, Senior: 3.73)
[] Rank or % estimate: 16th in class of 250 (top 6.5%)

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Hackneyed subject with a unique spin. Showed it to both of my AP English Teachers who really thought it was great. Spoke about one of my teacher's influences on me using a specific example (I did not focus on the teacher, but the experience and the outcomes and who I was).
[] Teacher Recs: One extremely good (History, had teacher for soph and senior history), one good (Math, had teacher for soph and senior math)
[] Counselor Rec: I didn't read it but our counselor basically makes us sound the best he can within the bounds of the truth.
[] Interview: Applied for one and was never contacted for one.
[li] Hook (if any): Recruited Athlete...heavy discussions with the Vassar Rugby coach who then wrote a letter to admissions recommending my admission to the school.
[/li]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Rhode Island
[] School Type: Catholic, All-Male Private High School
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Legacy Yes/No: No
[] Recruited Yes/No: Yes, for Rugby. (even though Rugby isn't technically a varsity sport, its still pretty huge at Vassar and is funded by the school, which is a rarity for college rugby clubs). As I said...coach wrote a letter recommending my admission.
[li] Important ECs: Student Council, Founder of Intramural Dodgeball League which will start in spring, founding member of Philosophy Club, Blood Drive coordinator, School dance coordinator, Rugby, Peer Minister, Writer for School Newspaper, Teacher's Aide for Freshman Algebra, Student Leadership Training Program annual participant (multiple programs)...if those are all considered important?
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors: Not much. I guess I could say I showed my creativity through my writing. My essay was one of the strongest parts of my application and I sent a poem as a part of my "Your Space" portion of the Vassar application.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I'm simply amazed. I honestly wasn't expecting to get into Vassar even with the Rugby coach backing me. I guess I would just say to be well rounded...you don't have to be outstanding in the solely academic realm to be accepted to the school of your dreams. I mean I wasn't a slouch but I was just slightly above Vassar's 25th percentile for SAT's...and its not like I was the valedictorian of my high school.

OMG, i am uber excited- i got my letter last wednesday and totally screamed. Tons of congratulations to everyone else that got accepted and i can't wait till next year! (well, august technically)

If you applied EDII and haven't gotten a letter yet, I would call the Admissions Office. Don't assume that you're "in" or "out." Letters get lost in the mail sometimes.
