Alright my fellow deferred folks, let us not despair! Perhaps we are the 20 some odd ED students who they’re going to take RD. I like to think that really, they just liked our applications too much the first time to only read them once. And who are we to begrudge them the chance of once again reveling in the clubs we’ve founded, courses of history we’ve changed, standardized tests we’ve beasted, and generally rad-awesome lives we’ve lived? Our applications are like good books (classic novels of the American dream, if you will): You can’t just read them once. =D

And on that note…
Post something warm, and fuzzy if you’re one of the Deferreds (which is really latin for, “Too Awesome the First Time”)

First of all, let me say that while I was distraught yesterday, I've had some time to think. I think this might be the best outcome. This way I can see who I am in April, and maybe my outlook on life will have changed enough that another school seems right. There are truly so many great schools out there!

I'm not holding my breath for Amherst to change its mind; I think they know what they want. I'm a white girl who goes to a New England private school and wants to major in English: how unique ;)

And if they do, I'm going to stick it to 'em and not go there...take that! Just kidding...who knows?

Where else are members of the "Too Awesome" club looking? I really like Middlebury and Bowdoin.

This way, the Amherst admissions peeps can ponder the deep hidden meanings in the poem I wrote for part of supplement and have time to fully appreciate it. Like a fine wine that ages with time and when you swirl it around in your mouth all of its glory suddenly appears.

Let us not despair! Chin up and forward march!

LOVE ALWAYS
~The one who is a part of every overrepresented majority

My sister LOVES Vassar unconditionally! So good choice. And my dad and my older sister went to Haverford and LOVED it! So that's a good one too.

The Amherst applicant pool is very self-selected and almost identical statistically to the students they actually accept. That means the majority of applicants are highly qualified for Amherst. It's just had to predict what they are looking for in a given class, particularly given its small size. I am sure all of you will have excellent choices in April whether it be Amherst or another school. Good luck!

Well, as much as I would like to say that I can see the sunny side and have decided that my defer letter was for the better, I've wanted to go to Amherst (and only Amherst) for too long now. Plain truth? It sucks. Knowing that about 20 out of the deferred 170 will actually go to Amherst, I feel like my chances are about slim to none. However, despite all this, I find myself thinking that I was accepted RD, I'd reject just to spite them (though I bet you I wouldn't).

I guess my DIVOH 75% didn't pull through. :(. And I finally 800'd Math in November too!

Time to find a new school.

Congrats to everyone that got in... (Though inside, I really wish I had your spot. Haha).
