Man, I wish all of us could just get together and start a Stanford boycott and protest at the school... jk, that would completely ruin our chances then. And XCotter is right, name of the undergrad school doesn't matter. But it's gonna suck for any of us who want to go to grad school and suffer through this kinda thing again...

Ok. so today I told my guidance counselor that I was deferred from stanford. She replied, no joke: "Hmm, ok. What does that mean again?"

facepalm

There's public schooling for ya.

deferred as well... damn there's a lot of us..
it feels better to find a group like this hehe - there are a lot of us! r u guys sure those numbers are right? 10% deferred? it definitely seems more

Im also international.... from Nicaragua (central america) only two applicants from my country... both deferred

I got deferred as well. It didn't bum me out nearly as much as I thought it would though. Well, now I will just have to submit the forms and hope for the best in the RD round.

wow. luciana, I thought most colleges had some kind of quota per region (like LatAm, EastAsian, etc). 2 applications, 2 deferees. I guess you just gotta hope that no more ppl from your country apply...

So being deffered does not put us at a disadvantage?

I got deferred too I was pretty upset at first, but at least we have a higher chance of being accepted in the RD pool! Does anyone know the percentage of athletes who were accepted SCEA? I heard that Athletes and Legacies make up a significant portion of Early Action applicants. Apparently they deferred 572 of us which is about 9%. This is the biggest EA applicant pool they’ve ever had too! So we are, in a way, the lucky elite who were not rejected.

The email says they eventually accept ~15% of the deferred pool. Do they cross compare the deferred pool with the RD pool OR do they pick the 15% comparing just the deferred poolers?

Btw officially they admitted 725 out of 6103. The admits are lower than last year even though the overall applicants were higher this year. Wonder what gives.
