...cause we all need moral support.

So who's still hopeful? Who's throwing in the towel?

...cause we all need moral support.

So who's still hopeful? Who's throwing in the towel?

how could you just throw in the towel?! well.. i didn't expect to get in ea, and that came true of course. i'm actually quite pleased with my deferral... i'm still going to try for rd though; it can't hurt. i'll be sending in a letter, etc.

i'm not giving up.

i didn't expect to get in. my sophomore year grades in precalc and chem were way too low. my application can definitely only get better now...especially after they see my grade in ap chem. =)

honestly, i'll be sending in an updated list of awards and tournament results and the like. here's waiting for april to come!

Yes, i'm certainly not giving up, having made it this far. Some form of strengthening my application is necessary, I believe... we'll see what the future holds.

Go team. I'll post more later. I'm still cheering up.

i used only an ACT score of 35. I had an SAT II:Writing of 760 on my transcript but not officially reported. I'm gonna need to take two more SAT II's for some other schools now that I've been deferred. Would you guys send them to Yale if you thought you were gonna score in the high 700's on one (US History) and the low to mid 700's on another (IIC)?

also, good luck to everyone in the RD round, wherever you may apply (but especially at Yale)

i'm a club member as well.

i don't know what i can do! i can't improve my sat scores, sat II scores, grades, gpa, rank, or anything!

ahhhhh!

i sent my SATII's to Yale, all in the 700s, along with my ACT 35, but... see where that got me?
into the Deferred Club!

But, I have yet to give up hope!!!

Disappointed, but I still really want to go there.
Any thoughts on sending in an issue of my school's newspaper? I'm an editor, and I wrote my activity essay about how me and a couple friends turned our really cruddy paper into a good one, got our school to start a journalism course for us, etc.

don't give up hope guys! Think of it this way: four more months to make your application to look 10 times better! From now until April, you can win more awards, write new essays, get some more recs. Guys, I believe in you 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<3 Chidimma

Deferred, as well! I'm definately going to work at this... not sure what the game plan is yet. But we'll see...

so, as I've never been deferred before, what are the best ways of turning deferred into accepted

I went ahead and emailed my regional rep, asking if there were any distinct weaknesses in my application... I know they discourage sending extra fluff (letters of rec, etc.), so I'll wait to hear back from him before I take any serious action

Woah, can we really do that? Will they have time to respond? That's so cool! I really would love to know what made them defer me vs. reject/acccept me.

honestly, I have no idea if/when he'll write me back... I did that at the advice of my interviewer. Chances are, they made some notes on the application for when they look at it again in the spring, so hopefully he'll fill me in on those... it might be a while though, I'm positive a ton of people are inundating them with emails/calls

twink1etwinkle: I'm just curious. How low were they?

I am sort of afraid that my 700 Math on my SAT (I got an 800 Verbal, though, and an 800 writing and 740 and 750 in Spanish and Lit) cause my deferral. I only took it once because I didn't want to screw with my 800. Oh well. I am sort of happy, though, that I didn't get rejected, because so many people (38% or so) did. I also was not expecting to get in.

If we are going to mail in extra stuff, should we mail it to the same address as the Teacher Rec. Letters?

Also, how did you find the email for your regional rep?

So, do you think I might actually get an interview now?

Make me an honourable member of the club. =(

Oh well, I've heard that Yale defers more people than Princeton (I don't know about Harvard) so at least a deferral is still somewhat encouraging...
