If you really like Boston I recommend that you look into:
Northeastern University
Brandeis University
Tufts University

It’s good that you’re interested this early! :)

Dont forget BC also haha

BC isn’t in Boston. BC is in Chestnut Hill/Newton. They might as well call it Newton College.

1/3 of BC is in Boston… tufts and brandeis are even further away. I don’t understand your point.

My bad. I don’t really consider the Newton area as a suburban area of Boston. Tufts is in Medford and Brandeis is in Waltham…

Anyway I don’t understand my post either. Sorry dude.

However BC is closer to Boston than Tufts or Brandeis. I would definitely check out BC if you are interested in attending school in the Boston area. It’s a traditional liberal arts college with a traditional college campus, lots of school spirit and a trolley ride to Boston to see all that Boston has to offer. It’s a different feel than either BU or Northeastern and thus should be looked at when you are trying to compare schools in this area. Northeastern is career focused- due to the great COOP program, BC is more preppy, aloof and BU has more of a mainstream/diverse student population and offers more choices as far as academic programs and class choices. All three schools are great schools as well as Tufts and Brandeis that have also been mentioned. I would strongly suggest making a trip to Boston and getting the feel for each school.

I appreciate it all of you! I’ll try and work in a visit. As for BC I like it but it lacks the diversity that I want. I also looked into northeastern heavily and I like it a lot but if I decide against business and go for science I feel it might not be as good a choice.

Actually for computer science NEU is worth a shot. I have no idea about the other sciences.

BU is much more of a real research university than Northeastern. If you look at outside research funding (grants awarded by funding agencies to researchers and research centers), it gets like 10 times the amount of research dollars than Northeastern. Of course it helps that BU has a med school.

Edit: it is more like a five-fold difference. $375 million for BU, $82 million for Northeastern. About 35-40% of BU’s incoming research dollars are accounted for by its med school.

You most certainly won’t be told BU is a non target school for bulge bracket banks and top consulting firms if that is something that may interest you post graduation I’d encourage you to look elsewhere. Honestly the whole Feld Career Center at SMG leaves a lot to be desired both in terms of the employer relationships and quality of the advisors they have in place. Unless you have substantial personal connections or an aggressive and successful networker don’t set your sights on bulge brackets if coming from BU.
