The DHL Thread

Piglette, thank you for sharing the information. I'm still reluctant to believe that I'm accepted, but knowing that I'm getting a package makes me feel a bit relieved. The lady on the phone was really nice and she even gave me my tracking number. Now that I look at my Tracking History, it says that my total package weight is 2 POUNDS! Did they put stones in it?

I think that "2 pounds" just means "small, non-letter" package, by DHL standards. Also, remember that your acceptance may contain financial aid information (DDs came a week or so after the acceptance), letters of welcome, maybe the same mysterious "catalogue-y" thing that DD has waiting here for her... Maybe a Columbia bumper sticker...

Really, though -- Columbia isn't going to waste money and/or get kids' hopes up unnecessarily by sending out bright yellow overnight packages to the 20,000-some kids who face the sadness of rejection or waiting list. It would be simultaneously a waste of expensive postage AND a cruel, if brief, "hoax" for kids who watched the delivery truck come rumbling to the door.

Good luck to all!

Yes, that makes a lot more sense, I can hardly imagine a 2 lbs package, ^^. Decisions time is coming closer and closer, so I'll know in a few hours whether this DHL theory really works.

debating whether to give daughter the 800 number....she'll probably wait, any way

We live in New Jersey and received DSL

You mean DHL, right? I tried calling DHL, and there's nothing coming from 10027 to our zip code or any zip code near us. Maybe since pearfire's shipment is an international shipment, it was logged into differently. Just a guess, probably wrong. But pearfire, your news looks really positive. I really happy for you.

Guys I don't know what this means but I called DHL and they told me a package was on the way to my house...they even gave me a tracking number. I do not know what that means though lol.

YPDCC, can you tell us if you live in the US and what region, or if you an international?

Also note that this is 2nd day delivery...perhaps rejections were sent out on 2nd day delivery rather than next day delivery...just an idea...i dont want to get my hopes up for anything.

No, I think rejections are sent regular mail. But YPDCC, are you in the USA?

Yes i live in New York.

It takes two days for a DHL package to get from Columbia to your home in New York? I thought DHL only does speed delivery? But oh well, my package is coming tomorrow and since I live in Europe that's the fastest it gets. Also, thank you DMA1, don't lose your hopes though. Maybe this whole DHL theory is just wrong and we're being misled. Although I don't hope so.

i just called and theres no package for me either from columbia so guess that'll be a rejection. Congrats to those who do have a package coming though!

okay called and found no shipment so guess we are rejected. its okay though d really likes usc and wanted to stay in california. soooo

yeah...grr no shipment =(

a package doesn't necessarily mean anything....maybe its a waitlist as well? idk.

waitlist comes in a regular letter like a rejection.

And it's no package that's worrying =P

There's a package at DHL. Does that mean acceptance?

nobody has any idea what that means.
