I was aiming for a 2000 on my May SAT's, but seriously, even I knew that it was probably a 10% chance.... On the practice tests before I've reached 2000 a couple of times, but that's the highest....

MAY results:
CR 580 WR 650 (8) M 710 = 1940

So that's my 3rd shot... A year ago I got a 1690..
Which is a pretty good improvement right?
But if I work harder I should be able to raise my score to 2000+ (but I think 100 more points is max)
I'm applying to college this fall, is it worth the trouble?
Or should I just work harder on my application?

Some schools I'm looking at: Brown, Cornell, Boston College, Wellesley

And seriously, is it just me, or is this test really addictive after a while… xD

Well, there isn’t a big difference, but when you setting your sights as high as Brown and Cornell, you really need to do everything to give yourself an advantage.

Plus, keep in mind that most colleges don’t give much weight to the writing portion, so having a low CR really hurts you.

Brown’s 25-75 percentiles:
Total: 1990-2290
Critical Reading: 660-760

As you can see, while you’re almost in the range for overall score, you’re pretty far out of the range on CR. Because Brown will give alot more weight to math+CR than to writing, it puts you in a not-so-good spot.

Darn. That’s what I feared =(
I find writing way easier than CR!
I’m taking SAT 2 next month. Lit & Math 1.
Would a higher Lit score make up for my low CR?
600~650 shouldn’t be a problem, I do better on Lit (because there’s no sentence completion lol)

Yes, yes. It IS addictive. After my first take last month I almost had to punch myself in the face to convince myself to retake it in October and not next week.

That CR is fairly low for any top school. Have you tried taking the ACT? That might be of more help to you.

The diffeeence is 60 points

Hmmm, if I do decide to take the ACTs what would be a reasonable score?
Or if I decide to take the SAT again what should I aim for on CR?
I think 660 might be a bit hard =(

My calculations tell me the difference is approximately 60 points :P

No, but seriously, there actually is a huge difference, since one score is in the 1000s and one is in the 2000s. Even though a 60 point difference is not much, when you reach the 2000 mark your score looks so much better just because of the group it is in.

Haha~
Yeah…So I’m guessing that I should retake again in October?

Definitely. Focus on improving that CR score especially…
