So does that mean that I shouldn't pay e-check now or will they not bill me the full amount and just subtract the FA? Or how does that work.

Is that date for everyone? And my direct loan isn’t showing up at all under pending aid so I might have to call them anyways…

Our invoice showed a current invoice amount and the pending aid. I paid the “amount due” which was the difference between the current invoice amount and the pending aid.

yes hopeful i get the same thing as well but when you do it through e-pay it says the full amount without any FA subtracting, since I guess it hasn’t been disbursed yet

Correction, the above date is wrong:

The first financial aid refunds for Fall term will be deposited to bank accounts (for those with direct deposit) or mailed to students on: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2010

http://www.finaid.umich.edu/media/pdf_newsletters_autogen/710snl.pdf

So we have to pay the full tuition first and then it gets reimbursed?? Yea tenisghs, it’s mailed out on Aug 27028th and everyone should receive it by Sep 2

…no.

All financial aid should be disbursed online directly to your student account tomorrow. If you overpaid or had financial aid left over, the school will either give you a check or deposit it to your banking account by Sept 2.

That’s how it worked last year.

No, check the website again:

Fall 2010 Disbursement Schedule
If Steps Completed Before… Refund Directly Deposited or Mailed On:
By August 27… September 2
September 1 …September 7
September 7 …September 10

If you are still doubtful, I just checked my payroll account under Wolverine Access and my financial aid money will not be disbursed tomorrow. As the OFA website said, it will be disbursed next week at the earliest.

my academic competitive grant disappeared(does anyone else have this problem?) earlier, so i tried calling. the automated msg clearly stated that it’ll be distributed on 8/27. I don’t think it makes sense to wait till nx week because everything is due on 8/31, and not everyone has extra 20~30 bucks to pay for late payments.

your websites confirms what pro28 is saying, we’re talkng about disbursement, not refunds.

Wait, I’m kind of confused…the original amount I’d have to pay is around $11,000 but my amount due is much less because the pending aid has already been subtracted from the $11,000. Same situation as Hopeful2014.

…So if we click the “pay now”, will we be okay?

I pressed “pay now” and was able to change the amount to the amount I wanted to pay — which was the amount due after the pending aid. I am assuming we will receive the amount of pending aid and will have nothing further due until January.

So if we press pay-now we would be able to select the amount due instead of the whole thing. However, if you read the fine print on the account inquiry page it says you may choose to pay the amount due but if the FA does not get disbursed in time (aug 31) you will be charged a late fee if you did not pay the full amount.

Ohh ok. Well my loan still isn’t showing up so I’ll probably call them soon anyways. I don’t have an extra $30 to pay so I hope everything is on time…

Here is a link to the Financial Aid Office’s explanation of your Student Bill. If you are expecting aid, you only have to pay the Amount Due (less pending aid).

http://www.finaid.umich.edu/media/pdf_other_forms_and_flyers_autogen/pending_parents.pdf

It says the only the amount due (the total less pending aid) is due by August 31st. I am assuming that if any of the aid expected shown on the invoice is not received, then you will be responsible for paying it and no late charge would be assessed. That is my interpretation. The late fee applies if you do not pay the amount due (the total less pending aid) by August 31st.

OK I have a quick question…does your direct loan also show up under pending aid? (at least half of the loan for the first semester)

My direct loans show up under pending aid.
Yosup, did you complete the Perkins Promissory Note and counseling? If you did and the loans aren’t showing up, then you should call the financial aid office.

Yep, I finished the direct loan promissory note and counseling like 2 weeks ago. I guess I’ll call them on monday if it still doesn’t show up.

I did all the loan stuff and it shows up as complete, but it still does not show up under pending aid…I guess ill have to call about it

I called and they said pay the amount due however, if some FA isn’t applied after aug 31… you are responsible for the late fee (viewable on wolverine access–>account inquiry at the bottom after you click on the inquiry)
