The downside to AP classes/tests

AP Lit - great class...some work...not very much thinking involved...kind of boring but that's because i generally hate literature. One of my best english classes so far

AP US Govt - TONS of work but not too hard. Great teacher, usually very interesting. the text is boring as hell though. AP Comp Govt next semester should be good too.

AP Physics C - tough, but interesting. grade is meh-ish..i need to pull it up.

I think that it depends on the high school and the college.

the AP course taught at a competitive high school will be taught at similar or perhaps even at higher standards than local colleges. however, I doubt that they can rival with college courses taught in the top 50 universities.

My AP Physics C class is so funny. It's really easy; half the kids talk and the other half does homework.

To those of you overwhelmed: Why don't you drop your hardest, most time-consuming 1-2 AP classes? Life's too short to spend all your time studying.

I'll add some Higher Level IB classes to the mix... they're fun too!

HL Chem: OMG. Scary. Half my class is in either HL Maths or the Science Olympics, which means my teacher goes really fast on everything. Thus, I have to review like crazy and it is a lot of work. Not to mention that I haven't picked a Group 4 topic yet (oops). On the bright side though, I have the better of the 2 possible teachers, and he likes to randomly make things explode.

HL European History in French: A blast. Debates, watching movies, and yeah, doing past papers which are pretty tough. Thing is, I LOVE this subject, so it could be way worse. Oh, and as for IB/AP equalling university course level - for our school's international politics course, we use the textbook used at most canadian unis for second year poli sci, and are graded accordingly. It rocks. Except maybe for that Historical Inquiry that I have to do this year. Damn IAs!

HL English A1: Good stuff. We finished Death in Venice, which is supprisingly a lot more interesting the 5th time you read it lol. You seriously learn how to overanalyse! Right now we're doing Hamlet, which is cool. Our teacher is great too. On our course outline, under Internal Assessment, it goes a bit like this: four billion essays, two of which happen to be in-class practice for your Alberta diploma exam

All my other classes this semester aren't really intense at all... just SL subjects (French and Spanish... I finished Calc and Bio last year).
