The dreaded bad semester

I was just wondering how much a bad semester (for me its first sophomore semester) really hurt you in the bad run. I'm not freaking out over A- or something. Currently I have 3 C's and 2 B-'s. Last year i got 2 semesters of straight A's. If i return to my old performance levels does it hurt me drasticly or will some places sort of realize it is just one bad semester and something must of had an outside affect on it ect.

ALSO** Everybody on this board is so academicaly motivated and some
(no-alot) of the brightest highschool students in the world are represented on this board. So if you have B's or something dont be intimidated, the truth is your doing better then alot of other people out there, and just by being on this board shows your dedicated to the cause and your future and you will end up somewhere good down the road. :-D**

I'd say don't worry. Bring it up to A's and B's, you'll be fine. Some colleges don't even factor in freshman year, so if you steadily improve, they won't interpret it as slacking off.

wow, that made me feel really good. cause im one of those...

Um, If I were you...

1) Why are you doing worse this term? Is it an outside problem (like you alluded to?) did something happen in your family? etc...or are you not studying effectively, too overscheduled? Are you not getting the content?
Try to determine why you are, and fix it.

2) If it's not too late, talk to teachers. See if you can ask for a higher grade with extra credit, or to float a "B" on the terms that you'll get an "A" next semester.

3) Do your best...especially on Sat II's, and state tests...if you get a C in biology but then an A and 90+ and 650+ they'll realize something must have happened
