The Dreaded Forced Triple

Yup, it happened, all freshmen got a forced triple to start. I moved D in a few days ago and boy, her room is tight. Great space for two, not so great for three. One person gets a nice corner, second in line gets to sleep a foot from the closets, and the third person in line is removed from both her closet and desk, just sort of “there”. The third roommate has not moved in yet but I already feel bad for her. It’ll all work out I know and the upper classman apartments are to die for. I’m less than impressed though with the common areas which need a good cleaning and handyman work. Missing shelves in a very dirty utility closet (one in each pod), old 60s-style shelf paper in the dirty medicine cabinet, leftover trash from kids who moved out last May…I spent some time cleaning these areas for the pod but there’s only so much you can do in the hour we had to move in. I guess I was just surprised that at $62,000 they couldn’t have the areas ready for move - in.

You are spot on with the triple. Moved my son in first as he participated in SCOOP so he squatted in the prime location. It is working out fine for three boys but I can envision it being a bit more difficult for the young women. I agree, at the price tag, kids should be in doubles. I think the kids are rewarded n future years with plenty of singles and n campus apartment style housing.
