Okay, I'm pretty sure most of us has been assigned to do reading logs while reading pieces in English. The pieces have always been fun to read but the logs?? I mean, I like to express my thoughts and feelings down on paper but there are so many things to do.. or is it just me?

I always have a tendency to write everything I read down (like what happens to each character in every chapter). Is this way too much? For example, for the Major characters I need to write: detailed information about the character and give a few significant quotes that connect to the character.

What would YOU write for that particular section? I'm going to have a harder load of classes this year so I can't write those long logs anymore.. I need to balance it out. Thanks for reading..

So, how much would you write for these reading logs? Should I just read the whole book first and then write my log or should I do it while I'm reading? I'm going to be tested on these and I have to write essays so I don't know what I should include on my log.. It sounds pretty simple so should I keep it that way? (i.e. write only what is required- details and a few quotes.)

Idk...I usually take notes during the book (i have a crazy aversion to rereading...) and then type them up nice, cut out stuff that could have been important but was off-base...

So how long does it take you guys to do both your reading logs and read? For me it takes about 30 minutes for around 5 pages.. Is that too long?

During that time I look up words that I'm unfamiliar of (Usually a couple per page), write the important things happening to each character (a couple sentences per page), write everything else that is pertinent to filling out the log (one or two sentences per section). So, how can I speed up my pace?? Help please..
