Hey guys, I have a small question about the Duke interview.

Will it hurt me that I applied too late to have an interview, and ended up not having one? Is Duke's acceptance rate for non-interviewees lower than the acceptance rate for those who interviewed? I've heard that at MIT, this was a large determining factor in an admissionf decision.

i’m pretty sure the interview process has a minimal effect on acceptance. in fact, my interviewer said that he believes it has very little to no effect and that they just want to make sure you’re not drugged up or something.

also, i think that they try to interview as many people as possible, even if you applied after the deadline for an interview. if you didnt get one, it may just mean that they didn’t have enough alumni to interview everybody in your area, which isn’t really your fault.

so…no it doesn’t really matter. you will be fine

Interview is not a huge factor in terms of admission. It simply provides an opportunity for Duke admissions to get to know you as a person (not as some numbers). Whether or not you get an interview heavily depends on your location and the availability of interviewers, not necessarily when you submitted your application/supplement.

^^Nah, you should be fine. Interviews truly have a minimal impact. However, the true question is, 2 hours away from the decision, does it truly matter?

Don’t worry about the interview. In all honesty, my interview was a fiasco (the woman was not very friendly, and showed up late) - and I was just accepted. Good luck!
