The earlier and more often you apply, the higher the chances?

I am a 16 year old guy, junior in high school, and my dream college is UC Santa Barbara. I live in Northern California, so only about a 5-6 hour drive away from the campus. I feel like if I dont get into that college, I am going to give up on life because I dont want to go to a CC and transfer. I dont know why I dont want to do that, its more of an ego thing. I really want to get in while I'm 18. My grades are mediocre, and I dont think my SAT will be that good, I think I will do average at best (1600-1800) I have around a 3.2 gpa. Today I read that the more you apply in your high school years, and the earlier you do, the higher chance they will accept you. So do you think, if I take my SAT soon and start submitting and keep submitting my applications all the way until senior year, will I eventually get in with mediocre sat and gpa, can I still get in? Or will the frequency of application and the earliness not make a difference. Please dont mention anything about community college right now, I really dont want to hear that right now. I went to the school and fell in love with it, the people, the parties, everything about it. Should I start applying now? (After I take SAT'S)

You can’t just be admitted as a sophomore or junior. You should not apply until the school year when you will graduate - usually senior year, though some people elect to graduate early if they have enough credits.

Why don’t you just get better grades?
There is no way you will get in with a 3.2

Haha, I think maybe the term your thinking of is “apply yourself.” As in work hard. You have to be a senior to apply to schools (they ask when you graduate on most applications and applications for fall 2012 won’t be available until next summer at earliest). But yes, applying early can definitely help you with rolling admissions and obviously with early action/decision.
