The "Easy GE" List

I’m signing up for Chem 20B in the fall and I’m confused on which professor to take. My options are Felker, Baugh, and THE STAFF.

I’m taking Baugh right now in 20A and I’m unimpressed. Anyone have some information on Felker, and what exactly does “The STAFF” mean? Any suggestions?

Also, I’m trying to take some non-science GE’s. I took Hist 1a this quarter and I’m planning on taking German 59. Any advice?

So far my schedule looks like this:
Phys 1b - Malkan
Chem 20b -
German 59 - Presner
______ -

The Staff means that the exact instructor hasn’t been confirmed yet.

OK
should i take German 59 or wait till next fall for A&A10
i want to do the least amount of work, because either way, ima be taking each with 3 dif sci classes
next quarter german with psych100a, physics6a, chem 14d?
or shouldi just wait.

^ wait for AA10 since it’s the easiest class on campus

Even so, I hear really good things about German 59 - it was one of my friend’s fave classes at UCLA… and I’m taking it :]

Is German 59 a lot of work?..

AA10 is pretty good. My TA is very nice and generous with grades, so lah~

How is World Arts & Cultures: American Folklore with Polk? Anyone take that class or have that prof before?

I’m looking for an easy class that can fit in a schedule with Math 3C and Chem 14B. Does anyone have experience with Linguistics 1 with Schuh?

Same question - Linguistics 1

^ linguistics 1 was harder than i expected. i felt i spent too much time on the bloody homework. the essay was easy and the final was multiple choice. if you knew how to do the homework and read the slides than you can at least get a B+ but I think that’s the average.

What was so time consuming about the homeworks? And what are they about? The reviews say that they are straight from the reader (sounds like high school work).

Anyone taken women’s studies 10 or sociology 1? Supposedly women’s studies 10 is a good class and it fits nicely into my schedule, but I don’t know if its a “good class” because you learn a lot or because it is really easy and I would prefer the latter.

I’m taking Women’s Studies 10 right now. There’s a good deal of reading to do, but overall I’d definitely reccomend it. We watch music videos and funny videos in class, and Professor Williams is an angel. At least in Naazneen Diwan’s discussion section, the weekly quizzes are pretty easy to get 100% on if you do the assigned reading (you can also drop your two lowest scores). Lastly, you get study sheets for the midterm and the final, which help tremendously. Hope that helps!

One thing to note is that I think Women Studies 10 is limited to those in the major/minor for the first pass.

How about ETHNOMU 33 or MUSIC 15??
WHICH ONE!?

themoonisdown, are you joking?

Woman Studies 10 is, by far, the most time-consuming class I have. Readings are a ***** and the study sheet doesn’t help you out at all. It says 6 IDs are gonna be on the test, but you try and guess which 6 >_> out of hundreds. Check bruinwalk for yourself.

does anyone have any info about classics 10 with Morris, comp lit 4DW, or near eastern languages 50b with bakhos?

I’m going to ditto what Virus said about Woman Studies 10. If you aren’t already interested in that field, you’ll fall asleep in class, like the other 3/4 of the class. Definitely not worh the time you need to put into the course.

ling 20 with stabler. any comments ?

Are there any easy GEs still available? I signed up for a class and found out that I don’t really need it.
