you won't get accepted if your goal is to get into nursing and then transfer to the college. The nursing school is really small and they'll know if you don't really want to be there.

Apply to a school you want to go to. Don't screw some kid who really wants to be a nurse over just because you think it'll help you get into Penn. Odds are it won't, and if it does, you're a sleaze.

Thats not my point. I mentioned that I want to do medicine. I truly believe a year in nursing will give me perspective into the paricular qualities and experiences of that of a doctor.

Nawwwww....planning on the back up when ethics violations prevent medical license for practicing. So what do they call the Harvard School of Nursing and why are you on the Penn site with your moniker??? Ethics again.

Why would we want the HarvardWannaBe at our school of nursing? Wouldn't. You need to ask this on the HarvardNursingSchool thread.....that is what you need to do....or, register with a usable moniker so you can start over again pumping us for your creepy plan. Your are pimping our school of nursing and making fun of our whole university by implying that many folks have done what you espouse....it smacks of the flame.....you are a moth heading for the flame.

I must withdraw for I feel the compulsion to play with you and that would make me look bad.....for all here know that I attend Penn and so I will need to depart. I almost cannot resist your beckoning call to play.....with your posturing.

but seriously hazmat, I mean in all honesty, what are credentials of those who actually go to Nursing School. I ask this because at my school the girl who got into Penn was not great at anything- gpa, sats, nothing. Furthermore, it wasnt as she had any major volunteering experience. I would say she was a good student but because she chose Nursing, she got accepted in contrast with the Wharton geinuses at my school who got in. So I was wondering, is it worth going to Nursing first year and then transferring?

Fingers in my ears......I CAN'T HEAR YOU.....turning away. I refer you to the HarvardSchoolofNursing where you can read the application and answer your own question.

You need good SATs, GPA, etc. Probably not stellar. Most importantly, you need to demonstrate strong interest in the field of nursing. Someone involved in Physics all throughout high school will probably not get into the Nursing School.

Look, I appreciate what you may think you are trying to do, but it's not gonna work. Nursing is Pre-Professional school. It's not designed for people who want to take a year there and then transfer out. NO school is designed for people to take a year and then transfer out, with the possible exception of community college.

No one knows why people who you may think are unqualified get into top schools. Maybe she had an amazing interview and was really passionate, maybe she wrote great essays. Maybe she did volunteer work that you don't know about. Who knows.

If you want to be pre-med and think a nursing DEGREE would help you, that is one thing. However, planning on taking 1 year of nursing and then transferring out is a) poor planning on your part, and b) really unfair to a person who actually wants to be a nurse as their chosen profession. Not to mention the overwhelming nursing shortage in this country. Won't it be fun to be a doctor and to know that there's one less person around to help you?

90-100 people get into Nursing each year- and of that, only about 10 are guys. That's it. Do you really think in a class that size, they don't make sure the people they select really want to be there?

dude, as a member of the upenn nursing school class 09, I just want to reiterate what everyone else is saying and tell you to get away from my school! There is already an intense nursing shortage in america, and we dont need people like you taking away a spot from someone who actually wants to practice nursing.

Like people have said, Penn Nursing is really small and they have a completely different admissions process/timeline. They really get to know their applicants so if you don't want to be a nurse or get your BSN they will be able to tell. Do NOT use any school at Penn as a backdoor. The adcom can tell.
