The Economist - The model minority is losing patience

@SlitheyTove, so is there more of a preference at elites for legacies now than 2-3 decades ago?

Because the argument is that

  1. The percentage of Asians in HS has increased pretty dramatically.
  2. The percentage of whites in HS has decreased.
  3. Yet the percentage of those 2 races at Ivies have not changed at all over the past 2 decades.

So if legacy preference has stayed the same and student profiles have stayed the same (in actuality, Asian-American scholastic achievement in HS has increased even more dramatically over the past 2 decades) what would keep those percentages constant despite the relative size of the Asian-American and white talent pools changing quite a bit over that time period?
