<p>Right…and actually, every family likely has 3-4 of these unexpected expenses each year. It seems that about every 2-3 months some unexpected major expense occurs…emergency travel, major appliance replacement, leaky roof, and so forth…along with the above mentioned expenses. During the 48 months that a student is in college, there can be a 12-16 of these pricey expenses…totally thousands and thousands of dollars.</p>

<p>Was your daughter’s decision to attend college a surprise? Just asking because you bought a house the same year she is starting college. I can only assume this is the case.</p>

<p>that’s an odd question. buying a home can sometimes mean that college is more affordable.</p>
