Well everyone after a long and exhaustive search I think I have come up with a better acronym to replace HADES and AESDH - both of which seem nonsensical. I propose we call this elite group of 5 the HEADS schools.

Hotchkiss

Exeter

Andover

Deerfield

St. Pauls

Sorry (Milton and Groton I know you are both equal to the above mentioned school but the acronym would not have worked if I included you guys but then again Milton is half day and Groton is like 300 or so kids and both are extremely close to Boston so though they are identical from the other schools in terms of academics and everything else there is that small cultural difference).

I think the HEADS schools is an appropriate acronym as HEADS symbolizes the intellectual strength of these institutions and it is also symbolic that these schools are ahead of the pack.

Yeah GMC sounds good to. They are equal to the HEADS schools. So HEADS GMC ?

Ha ha if you rearrange GMC to MGC it could stand for MY Great Choice, HEADS schools... ha i dunno. But then again GMC may remind people about the bailout, and then their wallets, and then the exorbitant price tags attached to boarding schools ... lol jk.

BUt i have to admit HEADS is a pretty smart acronym.

I disagree with the hades/heads thing... there are two distinct groups- Exeter, Andover St.Pauls and then Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Choate, Milton, Midlesex, Larwrenceville, Peddie, St. Georges, and Groton

I disagree with rbupe. I would say its Exeter, Andover, St. Paul's, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and Groton, and then Choate, Milton, Middlesex, and Lawrenceville, and then Peddie and St. George's. But I think it is only a matter of opinion to rank schools like this; its about what fits for a particular kid.

Your right. Personally I think the HEADS list is brilliants just beacsue it makes a cute acronym that has a deep meaning. Though I would add GMC when talking about the top schools.

HADES + GMC i say.

I would place them

Hotchkiss and SPS ---> Deerfield and Exeter and Andover ---> the rest.

BUT then again the differences between the HADES schools are so minute that it is nonsensical to place one above the other its like placing Harvard above Princeton (though I am ever loyal to the Crimson even I admit that it makes no sense to do that they are both equally good schools). Prezomar makes a good point about culture though. If you notice all of the HEADS schools are also TSAO schools that already grouped themselves together based on similar traits. HEADS is just a more refined version of that list.

^many people feel that HADES is too limited and is a very minimal representation of all the “good” boarding schools so GLAD CHEMMS is a more accepted compromise…but I like HADES , being the Greek mythology freak that I am hehe
