The End All Boots Thread

Or so I hope. I know that there are a bunch of 2011'ers like myself out there who have found the whole boots/low quarters process to be very confusing. I did a search on this forum for the boots and after reading a ton of posts was left even more confused. After going to a couple AAFES stores and getting my stuff, I think I have correct information concerning issue/commercial boots. I know that alot of kids want the Belleville 390 DES boot. BELLEVILLE MAKES AN ISSUE 390 AND A COMMERICAL 390. There are a few differences. The commerical version, which is NOT allowed, says "Belleville" on the back of the heel. The issue version does not. Also, the commercial version has only two visible layers on the sole. The issue boot has three distinctly different layers on the sole. So yes, you can buy the 390, but it must be the issue version.

I don't know as much about the other brands, but as a rule of thumb: if it has a brandname on the heel, or only a two-layered sole, put it back on the shelf!

Like the letter states, you must get a pair of hot weather boots. Gore-tex Temperate boots are only ok if you have a pair of hot weathers as well.

As far as low quarters, they must NOT patent leather. IF IT LOOKS LIKE A MIRROR, DON'T BUY IT. I got a regular leather pair of Bates, and they are quite comfy.

I hope this post has helped. If anyone thinks that I have posted false information, please tell me.

hey when do they send you the boot letter? have you completed everything in that post admission packet?

You can print off the letter from your candidate website after the Admissions office gets your acceptance card. I'm sending back all the cards and forms bit by bit. Still waiting for the new dental forms.

So are the low quarters shoes the ones we are suppost to wear to r-day?

As far as I know, yes.
