Exactly what firesoul said ^ im so scared that I’ll only get into Weinberg and not bienen…actually I’m more scared that I’ll be rejected completely :0 oh well good luck everyone !

I really don’t want to get my hopes up too much, but honestly I think I’ll be accepted.

I went to the College Prep Program, which I’ve heard gives you a boost in the admissions process. I also applied for a Music/Engineering Dual Degree and the teacher said I was accepted to his studio, so I just need to know if engineering will accept me.

I’m just going to tell myself I won’t make it so I don’t get too disappointed…

Edit- rueplumet, I’m scared for the opposite!

@rueplumet, MattPlaysViola

I want to go into music ed but really, really don’t want to give up my strong humanities background. If I got into Weinberg and not Bienen, I’m afraid my alumni parents will still make me go. D= Re-auditioning after a quarter is so unlikely and honestly terrifies me.

firesoul17, luckily there are still opportunities for non-music majors to get into music at NW (orchestra with Hasty!) and you have Chicago at your disposal. I think 5 out of the 7 music teachers at my school went to NW for music ed, and they are all awesome! Best of luck to you!

firesoul, you should be lucky to have alumni parents. I’ve had to learn by trial and error in high school with this entire college process as the first person in my family to attend college in the US. Thank god for all the great information at CC. My parents even hate all the volunteer work I do and try to discourage it.

With that said, I’m expecting waitlist/rejection. I was accepted w/ scholarship to USC, which has a bit of a higher acceptance rate, but I’m probably not going to get into any ‘harder’ schools.

My ACT is too low. I’m 100% sure of it. Ah well.

I’ve been obsessed with Northwestern since the fall of 2009. I visited all the way back in the fall of 2010. I’ve been waiting way too long, and I really hope tomorrow is the big day. I poured my heart out in my essay and during my interview, so I don’t know what else I could have done. The decision can really go either way. I’ll be heartbroken if it’s a rejection, but I also really love Duke so I’m hoping I can get good news from them next week.

Break a leg, everybody and GO 'CATS!

Yea that’s all true I guess! Just I heard that its much easier to be accepted to the dual degree if you’re already in Bienen then it is to be accepted to a teachers studio coming Weinberg. I dont know ! Haha

Given the “cuts in admission” admission officers have been talking about, I am definitely expecting rejection. Hate to sound like a pessimist but why would anyone expect acceptance? You are setting yourself up for rejection where as the opposite will make rejection easier and acceptance that much better. Anyways, good luck to all tomorrow.

Honestly? Probably rejected. Trying to be optimistic about it though and hoping that, by some miracle, I get in at Weinberg.

Stupid question (and yes I’m a parent and not of a current applicant) but can someone explain how NU handles music admissions? Do you do the audition first, then wait to hear about academic admission later? Are the academic standards the same for music students? Do folks typically hear about both decisions at the same time?

My fingers are crossed for everyone, and I hope you have answers soon as I know how long the wait seems!

Tmr is a big day. I have been rejected by ED Columbia and RD WUSTL. Now I am calm, and juz wait.

Good luck to all!

so at what time does decisions come out exactly?
also, do we get an email or sth?

If you apply to the dual degree, you audition for the teacher…if they want to accept you they tell the Bienen admissions office and then they make sure your grades are good enough…then (I think) Weinberg has to accept you separately and then you have to be accepted to the dual degree program as well

@rueplumet - Interesting, thanks!

So if you were ONLY applying to music the process would be to first audition and then if you were accepted by the music teacher you’d be waiting for an academic decision today along with everyone else?

Can you list a backup school in case you are not accepted by a music teacher?

I hope you all get decisions very soon (hopefully tonight)!

Is it unusual to be accepted into Bienen without first being contacted by the professors?

My gut feeling is rejected. Record high applied, record low accepted. Expect the worst, hope for the best :)

I honestly think it could go either way for me. My sister got in 5 years ago, and my test scores are higher/I have more extracurriculars/my AP scores are better, etc., but I also know that getting into good colleges was much easier back then.

Are decisions def today?
