The End To Aa Discussion

For everyone that keeps talking about it, why dont you understand the situation. AA is not going to be here for ever, its just a temporary fix to a situation. The supreme court already said that. From 2015 and on we wont even hear the word AA.

You may think its wrong blah blah. You may think its right blah blah blah. But how about you stop wasting time ranting and get a LIFE. DO SOME HOMEWORK, READ, EXCERCISE, POST ON COLLEGE ISSUES BESIDES RACE.

In the end AA was a program to repay years of segregation, slavery, and opression and to guide a group of people into mainstream america instead of concentrated ghettos. IF you argue with AA you are arguing against this policy. If you do so you are a ranting semi-ignorant hypocrite.

IF you were denied admission to Harvard dont blame all of the 17% black and latino students. BLAME YOURSELF. These students deserve there spot, why dont you step back and move forward with your life and get rid of that hate.

WHOEVER YOU ARE WORK HARD AND SHOOT FOR YOUR GOALS, BUT BE RESPECTFUL OF TOUGH SOCIETAL ISSUES, BECAUSE I AM TIRED OF SEEING PEOPLE BLINDLY POINTING TO ONE OR TWO EXAMPLES OF RICH COLORED KIDS WHO GOT TO HARVARD. AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT COLORED KIDS ANCESTORS WERE ENSLAVED, THAT COLORED KIDS PARENTAL GENERATION WAS SEGREGATED, THAT COLORED KID HAS TO WAKE UP WITH THE STIGMA OF BEING COLORED IN AMERICA.

If your asian with a 4.0 and 2400 and feel cheated by whites, blacks, and latinos, you should 1 be proud of yourself, and 2 understand that american society is not perfect and we are here to work together to ensure the destiny of all peoples as one. IF you dont like the situation you can return to Asia and see how you would like it.

No one race should feel overly benefited or overly at loss, because all races are suffering because of the hate in our past. Look forward, keep your head up, whether your black, white, latino, or asian be proud that you are alive and well and that you will go to A college and have a decent life. Remember all the peoples in the ghettos, favelas, slums, everywhere, Life on Earth sucks for so many people, so why do you want to make it suck here in our small haven.

END THE DISCUSSION ON AA, FURTHERMORE I ASK MODERATORS TO BAN DISCUSSIONS OF AA ON ALL FORUMS EXCEPT FOR ONE DESIGNATED TO BE FOR THE DEBATE ON AA. THIS FORUM SHOULD HAVE TIGHTER CONTROLS TO MAINTAIN A CONTROL AND ERUDITE DEBATE.

STOP THE AA RANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except for yours of course.

Hey drawingdot7...I think AA debates are one of the most important discussions that students can have. Everyone posting their opinion is seeing different viewpoints and also having to defend themselves, which leads to increased political and societal awareness....if you don't wanna read the discussions...don't do it buddy. No one forces you to click on the link. Isn't asking for a ban kind of ridiculous?

America values the free market in every area of society except the one that matters most, higher education.

Your post is ridiculous. If you want to end the AA debate, don't try to trump it with your views. I would have appreciated a moderate post that would have taken a neutral stance of agitation at the discussion instead of a biased perspective. Sure, if you want to express your opinion, don't do it in a thread that is made to "end the debate." You look hypocritical in this post.

There is just no end is there. I guess you guys must like to argue. I give up.

LOL Drawingdot7, I hope that was a satire

Haha, I love the whole "No more AA debates, but before that takes effect, AA is right because this this and this, and if you disagree you're an incentive jerk."

By the way, the whole "go back to asia" comment was extremely classy...

[rolls eyes]

I can only hope that that was a joke...

fully agree with EAS- dont want to participate in aa discussions no one is forcing you to! and as asian who supports aa and absolutely beleives in diversity i am offended by the 'go back to asia' comment

Well, one should be offended regardless of whether an Asian "supports aa" or not. I think if some people feel something is unfair, they should move to change it instead of jumping ship. The OP makes me laugh.

AA is such an unfair policy that I wholeheartedly disagree i with. It defeats the purpose of competitive admission. How can you grant someone preference by simply being born a certain color, or from a certain group. What about European Americans or Asian Americans, who werent born here and are obvious miniorities. They get the opposite end of the stick. Brown V Board was supposed to end discrimination in school so how can we condone AA. The application ironically even says Yale or "insert college name" doesnt discriminate on the basis of race, sex, nationality, sexual orientation......

I remember my neighbor who was the son of a heart surgeon, who just happened to be an hispanic from Cuba. In my school he was ranked 19, had an SAT score of 1400, and was involved in like 3 activites, one of which he was secretary of. He made it Princeton, the valedictorian who had a 1540 SAT and 4 activites (Serving as captain on 3 of them) ended up at Johns Hopkins (NOT BME).

Are you telling me that that hispanic kid had a harder life then me, or brought a diverse persepective. I mean lets be serious we all wore flip flops and lacoste. We all ate Pizza on fridays and went to the movies on saturday.

This sucks becuase I am asian, just becuase of that i ended up at BU, i had a 1590 on my SAT, and was ranked 6th in class. Is it my fault I am smart. Is it my fault my family encouraged me to read harry potter when i was in pre-kindergarten. I mean seriously just becuase i like to do math problems on saturdays instead of going outside, does that doom me. If i was Black, i would have had a full scholarship to anywhere in America.

This only promotes anger and tension.

Whats your view, I am so against what Drawingdot7 wrote earlier, anyone feel the same way.

I'm a little confused by the OP but anywayz....

I don't think you should blame AA that you ended up at BU. Despite the fact that you are asian you are still underrespresented at many other institutions of higher learning that are on the same lines with or possibly ahead of BU academically.
Let's not forget the application is not just about numbers, I have no way to view your essays and don't know what your EC's were so you can't just blame the fact that you ended up at BU on AA.

Your ethnicity, SAT scores, reading preferences in kindergarten, and weekend activities didn't doom you. But your arrogant attitude might have.

Really, I can swear that AA was the reason I didnt make it to Princeton.

But then again, can I blame AA, when I did not exactly know what the hispanic kid had to go through.

I dont know.

I wouldn't swear this. You might be struck down by lightning. =)

Really now. Grow up, would you?

O.M.G. Can't anyone tell when someone is joking anymore?

eadams83, READ THIS THREAD THOROUGHLY

Drawingdot7, you hit the bullseye on the wrong target.

its so funny how people are so frenzied when they cant even notice the nuances of this situation. Honestly people lets lighten the mood
im glad atleast dooit understands.

I don't like AA either, but this post is too one-sided. Disliking AA is one thing, but to think your opinion is "end-all" is another.

ok maybe yall didnt get the point. I was satirical about the AA discussion. my first post was pro AA and my second was anti AA. hmmm. i really dont know what to say. i was hoping most of the replies would catch on ESPECIALLY SINCE I USED THE SAME SCREENAME TO POST BOTH OF THE RANTS, but at least me and dooit understand .
