Hi All,

So I'm new to the site and my daughter will be moving to USC in a few days. We haven't exactly done all of her shopping yet, and are from Michigan, so I figured we'd do some shopping before school so that she can get all the proper Cali clothes. So, in short, what seems to be the trends in clothing at USC (I'm assuming no snow boots)? Thanks for all of your help.

Welcome, TrojanDad. I’m a long-time cc poster and USC parent of 2 (Freshman & senior) boys but I would have to say the styles and fashions at USC vary greatly, as I’m sure your D will discover when she arrives. I was just on campus and noticed a lot of girls in short shorts (rolled up Daisy Dukes?) worn with tiny strapped flat sandals. As for jeans, lots of dark blue denim. Long hair. Long legs. Your D might appreciate saving some of her clothes budget for shopping after she arrives. They have a week before classes start and no one ever accused L.A. of lacking malls. ;)

Note that the weather is finally warming up this week–should be 88 degrees & humid on Wednesday.

“summer” clothes and jeans are worn virtually all year long in LA. she’ll need a light polarfleece jacket for cool nights and some sort of light weight hooded rain shell when it does[ occasionally] rain. Girls do wear Ugs in the winter.
