I think you have as good a shot as any. Don't forget that you won't be the only one at your elite prep school wanting a spot at Midd. Therefore your chances are a bit reduced particularly if there are others in your class that have similar grades/EC. Play up the TV show as the other EC's are similar to most everyone else vying for a place at Midd. Good luck.

the tv show is a great hook...if you work hard and put together a solid application i think you have a very good chance. just know that midd looks at your 1st semester grades of your senior year, so try to keep them up, if not improve them

You suggest that he gets his grades even higher however he posts his GPA at 3.7 to 4.0. That GPA is clearly, based upon statistics the school posts, enough to gain acceptance at Midd. It seems to me after being on CC for about a year that all of these posts giving one's statistics may good good for moral support but should not be a guideline for a substantive evaluation if it will get you in. The schools like Midd and other top 15 lacs handpick their classes based upon an attempt to have a well rounded class where the students' backgrounds compliment each other. If you have the posted stats then you get the foot in the door. Then it is the admin committee that combs thru our resumes with an eye to an end result upon we can only guess . I think we can figure out what individual resume doesn't meet the school's requirements but for others to say it looks good for admission is too speculative but a nice gesture.

If we prospective students visit a school, research the website and hear from current students what their resumes looked like then in our heart of hearts we know the answer to the question "do I have a shot"
