I want to put a specific activity on the extracurricular form but want to include a little more information about it that does not fit in the space provided...however, I do not want to write about it for my "blurb" and don't think it merits making an additional page. What should I do?

if you’re attaching an additional page - say, for a slightly-longer Why-Columbia blurb, or something - add a “Note about Activities” under a separate header lower on the page, and include it on the same sheet. That way it’s not a greater volume of paper, but you get the information across.

Is it frowned upon if you slightly extend the Why Columbia?

well, you can’t enter more than 300 characters in the online form - which is stupid, it’s hard enough to say something meaningful in 500 words, 300 characters is just ■■■■■■■■. so i would tend to just write in there “please see attached sheet” and follow it with a 150-word or so blurb. that’s what I did, anyway - but those were the days before they restricted the online form so severely. If you have something meaningful and insightful to say, they’re not going to crucify you for it.

obligatory note: i am not an admissions officer. i’m not a lawyer. i’m also a big risk-taker and iconoclast. but if you always do what other people tell you to do, then you’re a follower.

I didnt follow the rules last year and attached another page, basically exactly what you did.

I am typing this from Carman (Columbia dorm).
