What if your parents signed the parent loan plus under your pin? Will that affect whether or not they will approve your loan? because your parents didn't sign up to get their own pin number.

They have to have their own PIN to have been able to sign your FAFSA.

i think they did have their pin number or maybe they used mines but then I think they have their own pin number because they did something that required them to…well i don’t know but I’ll check and see.

I don’t think your FAFSA would have processed if they used your PIN.

oh ok. thanks for the quick replies.

Tip: Don’t loose those pins! You’ll use them all four years -both you and your parents.

Signing for the PLUS loan with the wrong PIN is a relatively common mistake. I have seen parents use the student’s PIN instead of their own … or the dad’s info is on the PLUS form but the PIN used for the MPN is mom’s. The loan will NOT pay out if the PIN is incorrect. Everything will seem like it’s all set, but if the PIN associated with the MPN is wrong, the loan will never pay out.

^^ Ouch - that’s important to know
