remember me: apfreak. Many of you thought that upon being deferred I would flood collegeconfidential with many posts of nothingness. But I did not. Anyways, everyone warned me of my paltry SAT scores:

Math: 620
Reading: 600
Writing: 560

I am surprised that I even got deferred: even though I am a URM and Valedictorian.

Now my scores are much bettr but still subpar: I increased 200 pts

I don't know if you guys remember my past stats and commitments and also my crazy determination that many CCers admired...but.....will these scores help my chances by much?

A 200 point difference is pretty good even though they are still subpar. what do you think. You can look up my past posts for more stats

Well, I didn't apply EA, but if I'm not accepted, it just means that Harvard didn't need me this year. I can deal with rejection because I know that I've tried my best.

Yes. DHA sounded really upset and possibly suicidal. APFREAK, I'm very happy for you. To get such scores coming from a low-income URM family is an extremely high achievement. You have amazing ambition and determination. I'm sure with or without Harvard you'll be extremely successfull in life. Best of Luck.

Well, if low income is an advantage then it would not apply for me. I am mid income--about $65,000 but last year was $73,000 (no HFAI for me:() However, many applicants are like 90K plus. Yikes!

yeah my scores have ranged from 1900 to 2120 (2190 combined with old scores) Thats a 290 point range!

I tell ya, SATs are a waste of time. In my opinion, if you can study for them (and I didn't even study for more than two weeks or so) and change your score by 290 points then theres no validity to them.

im mexican american and i never thought affirmative action is as good as ppl say it is. i was deferred from yale (despite having killer stats). i never was sold on AA actually helping that much. who knows, i might be happy in April.
