The Female Foray: Uh-oh

What I have to say may come across as sexist, but I don't intend to be mean.

I saw a sign posted across campus advertising a bank coming to campus to give an information session about applying for i-banking positions, though the presentation was titled "FOR WOMEN ONLY!!!" Similarly, I know my university funds scholarships in the engineering school, exclusively for women. The girls often have special lecturers come and speak, and there are many organizations on campus exclusively for them.

As a male on the 21st century college campus, I have noticed one thing: Women are destroying us guys. On my campus, the average GPA is 3.1, while the average male's GPA is 2.9, and the average female's GPA is 3.3. In my classes, the girls seem to ask most of the questions and seem to be the most obsessed with grades and such.

Sure, the "glass ceiling" is keeping men afloat for now, but with the sure-to-come shattering of that societal staple, I can't imagine what is going to happen. The fabric of our culture is being torn, and unfortunately, with women bombarding the workforce, less and less of them know how to sew.

Girls just seem to be more focused and determined to be able to make it on their own. Adding to this conundrum is the fact that universities do much to assist their efforts. Too many girls work the extra inch as if to prove that they can play with the boys. I don't like where their determination will take us as a whole.

Anyone else in favor of traditional gender roles? Or am I a chauvinistic pig?

Why don't you guys create an exclusively male organization? like a book club or something and invite the authors.

I don't see how it is the women's fault that they attain a higher GPA overall. However, it is the men's fault that their average GPA is lower.

OH MY GOD! LET'S INVENT "FRATERNITY"!!!!

So what? If you value traditional gender roles, just find a woman to marry with the same values. There are still plenty of them out there.

You should also propose a men's studies program at your school.

What traditional gender roles are you talking about anyway?

I'm in a child development class with two other guys and a boatload of girls (like 20 or so). They think the guys are dumb at first, at least I got the impression they did, but I have about a 96% in there or so right now so it's not like the guys are dumber. Also, about the asking questions thing--since when have girls become associated with that? I ask an average of 2-3 questions every class I have and I know I always lead the classes in questions asked.

I agree, girls are getting too much preferential treatment with scholarships and whatnot. And while I am in no way racist, so are minorities. I'm a white male and I feel ripped off! It's like they think white men are stupid or something.

And the other thing about girls--sometimes they get higher grades because the male profs think they're hot or something. Or teachers--I had a history teacher in high school who would always give a girl a 100% on a speech as long as she was relatively good looking and/or wore a short skirt--even if her speech and outline were really bad. Fat/ugly chicks and guys had to bust their butt off for an A. And teachers in general would be more leniant when a girl whined about missing something...meanwhile the guy can't get the point even if his answer is closer.

Now I face yet another challenge. I'm an elementary ed major. Not a whole lot of guys there (I think we have like 3 or 4 in the whole school). You can probably see the discriminiation against this gender minority coming. I'll post updates if anything happens like that.

"Or teachers--I had a history teacher in high school who would always give a girl a 100% on a speech as long as she was relatively good looking and/or wore a short skirt--even if her speech and outline were really bad."

That is the guy teacher's fault. The girl should continue to do what she's doing, because she's in no way at fault for getting preferential treatment for something she didn't ask for.

Same thing with the cops situation. Guys complain that girls get away all the time by talking their way out. Well, that's the guy's fault as well. Next time, he should try sucking up to the cop as well. And if it doesn't work, at least he can say that he tried.

^^ exactly. Y'all are doing it to yourselves.

Yeah, that guy was a bit of a pervert. Get this--he would skip seats in the back row to get girls in the front. I heard he actually would look at the yearbook and find out who was hot when he made his seating charts!

I had a friend who intentionally wore a short skirt on the day of her speech every day. Didn't even really try on them. She got 100% on all three. The guy who sat next to her always got B's and his speeches were better.

Eh...dirty old men.

Creepy Old Male Teacher = Exception, not rule

As of now, the men with the lower GPAs still get the best jobs. I am just wondering for how long. Men are more stable and are more authoritarian in presentation, so they make better bosses.

Women make poor employees. Women who are hired, get pregnant, and get paid for doing nothing. "Equal-opportunity" employing is flawed. I would recommend other similarly qualified candidates over a young married female if I were an employer.

Um...my mom is a project manager at a computer science company and certainly doesn't have any issues with stability or being authoritative. Her two female bosses don't seem to have any problems with those things either.

While I understand your point about taking leave for pregnancy, the rest of your argument is complete crap.

I just hope the Good ol Boy network lasts long enough for my sons to provide a comfortable lifestyle for their families.

Not another one of these "Us poor white guys" thread.

As long as girls continue to spend hours putting on makeup like clowns, I'll consider my sex the fortunate ones.

My problem is not with women succeding, if they can break through that glass ceiling, more power to them. Men are losing initiatvie and it is they who must get it back.
My problem with the up and coming female power is the feminization of men. More and more it is becoming apparent that male activities are being downgraded, and is destroying the base of male society. While most apparent with metrosexuals, feminization is becoming more and more apparent in traditionally male organizations, where manliness is important, such as the military. Not to be sexist, I do not want someone who (and this is scientifically proven) is slower, weaker and can't work three days a year and who have less will to kill on my front lines. On the other side, women have been proven to be able to take more G's than men, so I do not mind them being pilots, they have that ability.
But what is worse than that is how feminie children are becoming. And this is not just about women, but because parents are so scared of the kid becoming hurt they allow their child to do traditional activities, such as dodgeball, tackle football, climbing trees, etc. They are taking the masculinity out of being a man.
In conclusion, the way I see it is that the Athenian culture of women is trying to destroy the Spartan male culture and will cause future problems when the Persians invade.

i have one word for the weak men in this thread: roflmao!

I've long considered starting up a "He-Man Woman Haters Club" at my school.

"But what is worse than that is how feminie children are becoming.
Masculinity is a social construct, don't you understand? We are simply redefining the concept of masculinity. The things you speak of are ********. To me, dodgeball, football, and climbing trees are feminine.

Did you know that in the early 1900s, pink used to be the boy color and blue the girl color?

You would benefit from taking a sociology course. There's a reason why sociology is included in the core curriculum of many colleges.

Why is having "less will to kill" bad? I would prefer that most people in the world do not possess a strong will to kill so that wars do not get started in the first place.

Metrosexuality?? Guys brought this upon themselves. Did the girls force you guys to popularize this trend?

Your reasons for excluding females from the military are weak. By your standards, only extreme alpha-male types with criminal tendencies should join the military, and we all know that this is not the case. If a woman can go through boot camp and pass all the tests, then there's no reason, other than pure sexism, why she wouldn't be as good a soldier as a man. If she could barely lift a rifle and had a weak constitution, then training itself would've weeded her out.

What a pathetically veiled racist, xenophobic, and ludicrously conservative comment.
