NBAchris pretty much said it

Man, I don't even know how to reply to this topic. The amount of sexism and general paranoia in this topic is amazing. nbachris has a lot of good points though.

I personally have some anecdotes about how I've never seen females receive preferential treatment over males here, but of course they're just anecdotes. A lot of people in this thread seem to be conflating personal experience with how things actually are. "I took this one class where girls got preferential treatment" does not equate to "Men are losing the initiative," as one person put it. Additionally, while I'm not sure I agree with affirmative action myself, it exists because many women are not on equal footing with men when it comes to things like getting hired and being paid equal wages as men for the same work. I wonder how many employers think like Fratastic, who said that he wouldn't hire a young married woman with the same qualifications as a man.

Lastly, I would like to point out that in general-- not in classes where women receive preferential treatment just for being women-- a woman getting a higher GPA than a man in a similar field of study means that she's better and more qualified in that field of study than the man. It does not follow that she should be denied better employment opportunities because of her gender when she's more qualified to do the job.

food for thought: (regarding the changing "gender roles" in our society and what is defined as 'feminine'... it's not only guys' roles who are changing)

Read the book if you have time, it's interesting.

...it's a rather funny site.

by the way nbachris2788 women's standards in boot camp are far lower than men's just thought I'd let you know.

How much lower, I'd like to know then.

It doesn't matter if the standards are different for women. As long as they qualify, let them fight.

You know that phrase "knock your socks off?" I think there is some truth to that.

My pretty eyes have never met such blatant misogyny and bigotry. The majority of the posters in this thread are in dire need of an education.

I see a slight trend of more go-getter masculined career women and more metrosexual pretty boys.

But really, that means less competition for the strong traditionalist male. i.e., metrosexuallity and feminism has taken away some of the competition and its replacement (budding corporate females) are not as strong as their predecessors.

Yeah this is my very rough and speculative theories, no actually I would just call them preliminary observations...
