The Final Decison

Hey Guys,

So May 1st is just around the corner which means my window to choose the right college for me is becoming smaller. I have narrowed my choices between Boston University going in as a CGS student and then going into SMG in my junior year and Indiana University where I will enter as a Kelley School of Business University Division student.

So I'm here asking for some help/opinions. I am pretty certain that I want to do business and I choose finance as my specific major. I am having a lot trouble choosing between the two colleges. First, I like Boston a lot more than Indiana. But, Kelley is ranked a lot higher than BU's SMG, as well as having a much higher job offering percentage (94% Kelley - 54% SMG). I want to choose the college that will help me benefit the most going into the future. If you guys have any factors that you can weigh in, it would be much obliged.

Have you visited Bloomington? We are in state in Indiana, and many people consider Bloomington a great, top college town. Bloomington is about an hour or less from Indy airport, so reasonably accessible if you are coming from other parts of the country. While IU is a very good public university, its B school and the finance major are considered top notch, and there are many kids who would love to be in your shoes of being a direct admit to Kelley. While going to school in Boston could help with ease of getting internships etc during the school year, the stronger reputation of Kelley would likely pay off in the long run. There is a lot going on in Bloomington, as the university brings in a lot of big music acts etc. In high school, my kids were always bugging us to be able to go visit their older friends to see music on campus. Plus, with world class music and dance programs in the Jacobs School, the cultural life on campus can be much richer than you might expect in Indiana. While BU is well-known on east coast, and you might get some raised eyebrows when you say you are going to IU, there are lots of kids from the coasts who come to Bloomington and, the experience at Kelley is worth it.
