im applying to wesleyan, brown(long shot, just thought i'd try), new paltz, connecticut college, vassar, and brandeis.

recs should be good etc...what do you think?

milkdud,
It kind of depends on what your current school is and what your reasons for transferring are. For instance, will you be OK staying at your current school if none of these transfers work out or do you absolutely want to transfer? If it's the later, then you need a list with safeties. Without knowing too much about you, I'd say Brown is a reach, and Wes, Vassar and Brandeis are match or lower reaches. I'm not familiar with the transfer stats for Conn C or NP, so hopefully they're more on the safety side.

As Lily said, since you're a freshman, your HS grades will be counted more heavily. As far as your college work, the 4.0 is great, the rest will depend on what college you go to, if the classes you took were challenging and on your instructor recommendations. Good luck!

well my reasons for transferring are as such. firstly, i want a more academic school because i'm doing really well here and its not rewarding. second i want to be closer to home for various reasons. third, i want a smaller more intimate school. Oh and i go to the University of Vermont.

Seems like you have a good mix of schools. My S has applied as a transfer to NP. That should be a safety school for you. I don't know if it meets your criteria of academic challenge. Maybe you should apply to their honors program. I have heard very good things about that.

yeah NP was my safety school on the list, and also my last choice. but i didnt even know if had an honors program so i'll check that out. thanks. any other thoughts? i know brown is a really long shot but you never know
