The Financial Aid Question on APP dont check?????

I heard that if you answer "I will not apply for financial Aid" on a college application, then you will get in. Colleges and Univer. are just interested in our money or what? I heard they didnt want to go through the hassel of helping you recieve financial aid because they have to file it. HMMMMM
is this true????
thanks

If a college is need-blind, that means they do not consider whether you checked the box when they're deciding to admit you. Basically, the box is to advise them that they should receive financial aid forms from you. If a school is not need-blind, that means that if they must choose between 2 equally qualified students, they will choose the one with less aid. Checking the box does not mean that you will automatically be rejected, even if the school is not need-blind.

If you need aid , it would be just plain stupid not to check the box. First of all if you don't request it, you won't get any aid. second there are many schools that if you don't apply for aid as a freshman, you can not get it in subsequent years. So why would you try to think you can outsmart a system thinking that if you don't check the box, you 've increased your chances of getting in. The only thing wrong with this plain is that if you get in , you wouln't be able to attend because you can't pay for it!

You might want to take a look at the financial aid stats at several colleges. I would say that at most colleges, most of the kids are on some form of financial aid, so they would have had to check that financial aid box.
