Lack of inspiration, pressure ... interest ...
I'm still holding out for a letter from Hogwarts or windfall inheritance.

if you want some inspiration, think of it like this: instead of doing college apps later, and wasting your time doing these essays, you could do them now and save yourself later trouble, and hours of sleep. also, when you dont have pressure, ideas are a bit easier to come by, and ur probably more creative too, so i would consider that. and also, you can have the essays checked and revised the longer you have something down...

I wrote one essay, I got the idea (my experience of passing out when I gave blood) as I was going to bed and stayed up until 2 writing it. Then, during a 13 hour car ride, I got another great idea (the influence of my brother's insane life) but I haven't started it yet.

Well the problem is that the commonapp topics suck.

That's why you do the topic of your choice, at least that's why I did it last year because I just wasn't happy with the choices.

Tonyt88 what did you write about last year? (just curious, if you're willing to share)

np, umm it was a connection between Bizet's Carmen, Siddhartha, and about me entering into a world of meditation and realizations of my life.

ohh yeah I heard about it on another thread...jw what kind of "realizations" did you bring out? did you relate it to what you want to study or anything?

I was reading a bunch of threads about essay suggestions and one was talking about how in your essay you need to have "self-knowledge" about your values/dreams and what you want out of life. is that what your "realizations" were about?

Aren't the common app questions supposed to be broad enough so that you can write about pretty much anything you want? That's what they've always seemed like to me, anyways.

Um, about topic of your choice.

Do you have to specify what your topic is about if you're going to choose that essay?

Why are all of my questions so dumb?

haha, i've started a couple days ago and when school starts im a junior :p

AiLove: I already got my letter...sooooo good luck with the inheritance.

Vadox: Sometimes we keep info like that to ourself. There is a time to start too early.

As for the thread, YOURE procrastinating? I'm gonna at least be the week of and not have them all done.

My realizations were more about wow damn, why have i been spoiled all my life and I don't even appreciate it. I mean granted I'm not rich, but when the town is, everything comes easy to you. Though at the end I quickly related it to college to tie it all together.

As to topic of your choice, you just simply check off the box and that's it. It's really just a surprise for the adcoms, there's nothing to tell them. And you're questions are not dumb, you're just making sure you're doing everything right, even the most minute of details.

Wow, it's not even September yet...some people on this CC forum scare me.

I started the GT, Emory Scholars, and MIT EA applications TWO days before they were all due while doing history papers at the same time. I think that was something along the lines of three essays of 500 words, one of 750, and who knows how many short answers plus three eight-page Medieval Europe papers. Trust me, whenever you guys start (or finish) writing essays, you'll still be doing better than me...granted, that's not saying much, but still.

Go with the flow......:)

Haha, I will follow the advice of our freakin' awesome predecessors: hang loose and go with the flow :D. I've heard of one girl's case, who studied too much and the upshot is she had to go to the mental hospital :D. A warning for those who intend to cram too much :D

Seriously, people, you come up with your most brilliant ideas when you're pressed for time....

I'll answer this thread... tomorrow!

Definitely, or at least it sounds like a masterpiece when you've just written it at three in the morning ;) But a word to the wise, don't read it when you have actually had rest because then you would want to rewrite it :D

Haha, I've re-read some of the stuff that I've written at 3 in the morning.......and I still don't know precisely what planet I was on, but it sounded sort of philosophical and smart.....

At least, that's what I'll keep telling myself.....:D

wow that's funny. but true now that I think about all the last minute essays I've written in the past...at the time I feel like they sound really bad but later when I read them again I can't believe I wrote them :P

but still, can't avoid freaking out when some people on CC have already finished essay drafts AHH

hey guys, just dropping a line to say that this is a nice little organization, PA that is. Anyhow I would like to say just to start th

jk, but really, -___-
I am going to have a "working vacation" next week, where I do apps on the beach. Wooo.
