The First Time

I am pulling my first all-nighter of the school year, its only the second day...all so I can finish some AP English Lang essay assigned today and some other stuff.

Maybe I wouldn't have to do this if I could just get off CC, haha.

Has anyone else stayed up all night doing school work so far this year?

yeah the night before school started 'cause I was finished AP Biology hw. Fun stuff... lol Yeah I need to work on procrastinating...

in elementary school, homework was a joke and half the kids didn't ever do it.
in 7th grade, I went to a new school and homework was plentiful but manageable. life was good.
in 8th grade, it got really really busy and sometimes I'd sleep at 2am, or wake up a couple hours earelier to finish daunting projects. I averaged 5-6 hours of sleep a night the last quarter, it sucked.
This year, well I've only had 3 days of school so far, and no alnighters yet and I'd like it to stay that way. I don't function without sleep.

No, luckily the classes where I get all the homework are near the end of the day, so I can do it during classes.

Wow strong loser. You shouldn't pull all nighters for school work until college.

Nope, thankfully. But I did an all-nighter because I couldn't fall asleep (not because of work).

I think if you really avoid procrastination altogether then you won't have to pull any all-nighters.

Of course when I tried that I got burned out after about a semester. But yeah.

I went to a pretty difficult school in high school, and in 11th grade, I pulled at least 20 all-nighters, and I think that half of them were unavoidable. In 12th grade, I pulled about 5, due to taking easier courses. (I remember that one of these was staying up all night in anticipation of SAT II scores, another one was staying up all night for my MIT admission decision, and the other one was staying up all night for my Caltech decision which didn't come until three days after I pulled the all-nighter.)

I never really have. I'll stay up till 11 or 12, but if I don't finish it after that, then I'll go to sleep and somehow finish it in the morning.

I've never pulled an all nighter for High School.. I came close (got an hour and a half of sleep) once.. I had a research paper due and I was not quite done (a page or so left, plus works cited and outline) then the power went out.. It didn't come back on until after midnight... I was freaking out so bad..

In middle school I've never pulled an all nighter. I've never stayed up all night in my entire life, in fact. Closest I've come is in 8th grade, the night before a competition that I had been preparing an incredible amount for and have put a lot of effort into. I went to bed at 10 but couldn't fall asleep due to nervousness till 1:30. Then I woke up at 5, and did terribly at the competition (10th in state, devastating at the time) so yeah...

Can't say i stayed up doing strictly school work all night, however the result for me atleast is dangerous. Can't pay attention in all my academic classes.

Well, I can't say it was a real all nighter, cause I got nearly 45 minutes of sleep...but it's by far the latest I've ever stayed up doing work.

45 minutes is a lot, actually, and is much better than pulling a complete all-nighter. I used to stay up the entire night except for 1-2 hours, and I felt much better on those days than on the days when I'd do a complete all-nighter.

Man, that thread title scared me. LOL

i don't think i ever had to pull an all-nighter yet. well if i did, then i just chose not to. the latest i probably stayed up doing homework is like 2:00
