How is the food at Rice? I visited last week, and I ate at the North commons cafeteria and thought it was pretty good. But are there any other options besides the food courts in the residential colleges? Because I think it would get a bit monotonous eating in the same food court every single day...

The North Servery (Jones, Brown, and Martel) has the best food. It really is very good, but people still get sick of it. 80% of the time, the South Servery (Hanszen and Wiess) has food that’s just as good as North. Baker, Will Rice, Lovett, and Sid Rich each have their own servery, all of which are typically worse than North and South. However, Baker and Will Rice will be living at the new colleges (Duncan and McMurtry) next year, and they will share their own new servery. By Fall 2010, a new servery should be built for Will Rice and Lovett, and Baker’s will be completely redone. Also, (distant) future plans include adding an extra wing to Sid Rich while allowing access to the Will Rice/Lovett servery. Since food is typically better at the larger serveries, the construction of two larger serveries will increase your options and calm your worries.

There’s a bunch of places in the RMC when you get sick of servery food: Sammy’s, 13th Street (with a Smoothie King inside), Coffeehouse, and Willy’s Pub. Brochstein Pavilion also has coffee and on-the-go food. Off-campus, there are food courts at the Med Center (Texas Children’s has Chick-fil-a), tons of good stuff in Rice Village, and the Americana smorgasbord that is Kirby Dr.

its decent food. Also get creative with the salad bar and stuff!

I didn’t really like the food when I was at Rice. Then again, I visited Middlebury, St. Olaf, and Pomona which have some of the best food in the nation.

I think of it like this:
If it’s good food, awesome.
If it’s bad food, you would be fit, which increases the chance of getting laid, right? =]

or you can have good food and get laid…

totally sounds better than your scenarios

^Good point. =]

@biology, I went to a week-long camp at St. Olaf, and I gained 10 pounds from the food… No joke.

Actually, I think “good food” is healthy food… but that’s because I’m a health nut.

ahh Modulation… funny thing
