The Fordham Price Tag

as a junior beginning the college process Fordham seems like a great fit...except my parents as well as myself included, all choked at the high price tag. (covering residence costs as well of course) while I am an excellent student I am by no means the type of person to get merit scholarships etc. How does one handle this?

I would also like to add that i currently am enrolled in a private catholic high school and do not fit the requirements of financial aid

i didn’t think i’d get a scholarship when i applied to college, but i got some merit from F.U.
Since price will be a large factor in your college decision process, i would recommend looking into small state schools. I’m sure there are great state schools that can offer the same thing fordham does at a fraction of the cost.
I’m finishing up my freshman year, and let me tell you something, i would not be attending this school if i had to pay for even over half of the tuition. It is simply not worth that huge price tag.

give us your stats so we can see if you could get money

at least 3 Excellent Recomendations

Great-Grandfather was a prof. at Fordham (I dont know if this matters)

obviously im trying to bring my low sats up as well to around a 1750/1800 at least

do they rank? everything sees good except for very low SATS

If you live near Fordham and want to live at home they can take $6,000 off tuition. Of course, you still have to eat and transport yourself but that’s one option. I don’t know if there are any requirements for this; my daughter got a letter saying she would be eligible and her SATs aren’t that high.

if you can bring your sats up you might have a shot at merit. my weighted gpa was about the same with a top 20% class rank with higher sats and i got $8000 in merit

yeah I really wnated to go here, however they lost all of my financial aid paperowkr and I didnt find this out till a week ago, hwich makes it too late to go there now(since my parents will not pay that much for me to go here)

I’m hoping maybe I can transfer next year since this school is much better than the one I will be attending
