Where was this thread when I needed it yesterday?? I was freaking out for so long thinking they reversed their decision, but I got the email saying that I am a semi-finalist!
Congrats! As the foster Mom of a 2015 Gates Millennium Scholarship winner, I’d love to hear what the questions are this year. Best of luck!
Applications due tomorrow! Good luck everyone!
Now the waiting game begins! Anxiously waiting for March 1st
How do we resend a link for recommendation letters? Also, did anyone receive a confirmation email of any kind after submitting their Phase 2 application?
I’m not too sure if you can. If your teacher did not get the email, have them check their junk/spam! That’s what happened to me. I didn’t receive a confirmation email, but the dashboard says that Phase 2 is complete.
Does anyone have a red bar?
No, there is nothing new on my dashboard. Is there one for you?
Yes I have a red bar. Does that mean anything?
I have the red line as well but no email. What does this mean?
I have one now so I think it might just be an update for everyone
They sent an update about who made it as a finalist, good luck to everyone!
Congrats to those who made it!!! Does anyone know someone who has done TGS interview before? I’m wondering if the interview is going to be like college admissions interviews and if the interviewer has read our application, etc.
@njroadie hi how did you find out how many applicants there were in 2015? I would love to know how many applied this year!
@bigmamao The number was provided in the letter sent to the scholars. Best of luck!
Does anyone know when the winners are announced? Lowkey bummed by my interview but still hopeful.
Decisions come out April 20th! I am not too sure at what time, but it is that day for sure. Best of luck!
What do you feel enabled your son to be a strong applicant? I am working with a student who has advanced to semi-finalist status.
For starters - he is my “bonus” son - we aren’t biological relatives, and while I call him my son, and he has lived with us since his senior year of high school, legally and by blood we are not connected. Just so we’re clear
We worked with him to talk through his life and obstacles he had overcome. We crafted that into a clear narrative to show how he had experienced numerous difficulties, but had always overcome them. He had given back through volunteer work, participated and shown leadership skills and excelled academically. I think all of those were the parts that added up to the whole picture and helped him win.
Do not be reluctant to practice interview responses, make adjustments etc. Tell the truth, but tell is clearly and concisely. Best of luck!
