D is due March 20th and has begun to be very uncomfortable in the last week. Baby is sitting high near her ribs and is kicking quite a bit. Doctor told her this morning that there is no such thing as too much kicking, but I think D might disagree right now:)
Congratulations on the new arrival @Mansfield!
S1 was high, transverse, near my ribs and very active. I can sympathize with your D, @2VU0609
@shellfell @2VU0609 . Same for me. D2 was transverse, high, very active, never dropped. She was my 4th section, never got my body back to looking less than 4 months pregnant. I worked up until 2 weeks before my scheduled section, and patients could feel her kick them.
March 20 due date - first day of spring.
DD2 was born March 20th. I needed pitocin drip with first one and we scheduled to be induced on due date for 2nd baby. I took longer to deliver than the breech baby in the other room, which the doctor didn’t expect (he was on vacation when DD1 was born).
Best wishes for the new parents and grandparents. Being a grandparent is GRAND.
Fortunately for me, my high, transverse baby dropped head down days before his birth. I was not looking forward to a potential C-section.
Back in the day, I was scheduled to have a stress test a week after my OB saw me because S hadn’t dropped and I was nowhere near what I should have been so close to my due date.
Fortunately, S had other ideas and I had a very intense day Monday with very protracted what felt like labor labor pains before S was born on Tuesday to more normal labor and I never had the stress test that was scheduled for two days later.
Congratulations @Mansfield !! We went to the zoo and to lunch today with our sweet 8 month old granddaughter and her parents. She has two teeth, is crawling, sitting up, and babbling. She has a lot of toys (I was impressed with the toys she got in her Kiwi box I got her for Xmas), but is just as happy with her socks or a package of Top Ramen.
Congratulations @Mansfield! Enjoy those tiny baby snuggles! I am loving taking care of grandbaby (now 4 1/2 months, and 19 lbs!) while DD works. I have no agenda, nothing that needs doing, and so am quite content to read, snuggle baby, change diapers, and enjoy him in a way that is so much more relaxed than when my own kids were young. And THAT is why being a grandparent is so fantastic!!! All of the joy, without the stress.
Congratulations, Mansfield! Healthy and happy - perfect!
@SOSConcern, your D sounds exactly like mine and your SIL may be my SIL’s twin… It isn’t always easy. H and I are thankful that we are able to help out often.
So true, @anxiousmom!
Thanks to everyone for your kind wishes. The little family left the hospital today and they’re all glad to be home. D still feels pretty banged up. GD (that sounds wonderful to say) is doing well. They only live 20 minutes away so I stopped by with dinner and some cuddle time. She was sleeping blissfully. Here’s hoping their first night home goes well!
Missing our 5 mo old GD already. Will see soon to baby sit for 2 weeks until daycare kicks in. Keeping my weight lifting up at home as she is getting older. No really I am.
Argh. Still awaiting the arrival of grandson (now 4 days overdue.) If he hasn’t arrived by Wednesday, D is scheduled to be induced that morning - although she says “wouldn’t 2/20/2020 be a cool birth date?” I told her that if she’s induced on 2/19 (Wednesday), the baby’s birth date may very well be 2/20 (Thursday).
Here’s hoping for an easy delivery for your D, @scout59. We’re headed to see GS in a bit since his great grandma is visiting. S called last Friday to tell us that GS still hasn’t gained an ounce since his 12 month visit (now 15 months old), but he’s grown taller and his head circumference continues to grow appropriately. Doctor recommended feeding him anything he wants anytime he wants! So, no limits on sugar, fat or anything else. He loves peanut butter so I made peanut butter cookies to take to him today and I see smoothies in his future! That way we can combine his favorite fruits with some yogurt or even ice cream to increase the calorie count. He’s totally healthy but moves constantly and sleeps very little during the day. I think all the calories he ingests go to bone growth from what we’re seeing.
He’s finally arrived!! 7 lbs. 14 ounces and 21.5 inches. Mother and baby are doing fine, and grandmother scout59 is so relieved.
Labor went very quickly (5 hours from the start of induction), considering D is a first-time mother. Thank heavens!
@scout59, congratulations! Happy to hear delivery was quick and that your D and GS are doing well.
@scout59 Yay, congratulations!
Congratulations!!
Wow! A 5 hour labor is amazing for a first-time mother. Congratulations!!!
Haven’t been around for a couple of days. Happy to hear everything went well, @scout59. Congrats!
