The hardest ACT section is...?

Math.
I got a 30 in math last year (I hadn’t taken Algebra II, though, so I’m hoping my score this year will be better).
Surprisingly, I got a 34 in science (as well as reading) and a 35 in English. I thought the science would be the hardest too.

READING. I’m a slow reader, which doesn’t help at all. To keep up with the time, I have to skim, but that means only focusing on the plot and not the undertones of the words. Thinking about those implications would force me to pause and totally lose my momentum, and if I’m not weary enough, I’ll dwell on the same passage for 14 minutes.

Science BY FAR! It has like nothing to do with science at all!

^How does that make it harder?

Probably English or reading. I usually do very well in the science and mathematics section.

For most people, science is the hardest section.

English 34
Math 33
Reading 34
Science 33

I actually though the ACT was extremely easy…especially after taking the SAT so many times and not getting anywhere (superscore: 1920). I thought all the sections were equally difficult/easy and that is reflected in my scores. However, science was the only section I ran out of time on and I had to guess for the last 4-5 questions. The trick about the science section is that since it is all data interpretation, you can do it without knowledge of any of the topics. That being said, knowing the topics means you’ll have an easier time reading the charts/graphs. So to get a good score, you either have to either be familiar with the topics or be a really fast reader.

Math. Everything else I’m confident I could figure out all the right answers given unlimited time. Math I literally do not know how to do many of the problems.

Reading is the easiest for me. It just comes naturally I guess.

Ps I got a 35 reading and 27 Math.

took the ACT last year, got a 32.

Math: 35
English: 29 I think?
Science: 32
Reading: 31

If I recall correctly, the english was a bit annoying. I think the difficult part was knowing when there really wasn’t any grammar mistake under something underlined.

Science. 10char

For me it was reading. 33 in English, math 27 (standard error of measurement and nerves, I was getting 33’s on practice tests so I’ll retake,) science 26 ( :frowning: ) and 11 on the essay :)

Comp 28, I was sooooo mad at that. Anything under a 30 makes me wanna cry.

Definitely science. 36’s on English and Reading, 33 on math, and a 27 on science. I don’t know if I have a disability, but I cannot get through all seven of those passages in 35 minutes. Just simply can’t do it.

Science but I lucked out and got a 35. Normally it was the hardest for me, but I had a notoriously difficult section (September 2012), so the curve was awesome. I did my worst in Reading for that one (31)

Science for me.
Reading- 35
English- 35
Math-32
Writing-32
Science-31
Although I got a 31 I’m sure that was pure luck. I got a 27 the first time I took it. (took it twice)

My scores (Took only once) -

Comp - 33
Math - 35
English - 32
Reading - 33
Science - 33

So, I think all are about the same. However, if I had to choose, I’d say Reading.

Science ONLY because of the ridiculous time constraint.

That’s my main problem with the science too- I finished the English with five minutes to spare, but for the Science I ran out of time.

Science- it’s the only reason I never retook the ACT.

Composite: 35
Reading: 36
English: 36
Math: 35
Science: 34

Honestly, I thought that the reading and English sections of the ACT were dramatically easier than their counterparts in the SAT. I actually felt like I tangibly improved in those sections by studying. Meanwhile, I was never able to improve in science. I got a 34 by pure chance- I guessed on nearly 10 questions in the science section, and afterwards, I was in no mood to try to pull that miracle off a second time.

Math was always the subject I did worst on. I generally dislike having to do math problems under a timed setting, and the ACT was no exception.

I actually liked the Science section.

Science for sure
