I've heard Wheaton described with this nickname.

However, I wonder: do kids who do Pre-Law at Wheaton get into the top law schools?

Wheaton is completely different than every other school I'm considering (Georgetown, Yale, Vanderbilt, etc.), but for some reason, I am feeling that this small school may be the right place for me.

SAT: 2040 CR:750 M:670 W:620 (definitely retaking because of writing)
Rank: 6/266 - at an excellent public school
ECs: Student Body President, Swim Captain, Young Republicans Prez, etc.
Also: Eagle Scout, Youth Group, Volunteering all over

I'm Southern Baptist, and my pastor would be willing to write my recommendation.

I think the Wheaton perspective to this is, "if God's will is that you attend a top law school, then yes, kids who do pre-law get into the top law schools." I don't really know the answer to you question, though. If that's the most important thing to you, I'm thinking you should look elsewhere, but definitely pray about the decision. If Wheaton is where you feel you should be, then trust God with your future and go there.

Re: anything to do with Pre-Law at Wheaton, or if you are serious about doing law school after Wheaton, I would highly recommend you get in touch with Professor Steve Bretsen (he has a J.D. not a Ph.D. so he's technically not "Dr. Bretsen") who basically IS the Pre-Law program at Wheaton. He's a great, sharp, and very friendly fellow, so don't feel intimidated. He keeps tabs on Wheaton Pre-Law graduates and keeps track of which students get into which law schools.

I personally know a couple recent Wheaton grads at William and Mary, Northwestern, and Georgetown (Yale, Harvard, UM admissions are a mystery to me too at this point).

Jedipsohn has a legitimate point, though: Careerism does not really suffice as a reason to go to Wheaton - and Wheaton (as with most liberal arts colleges) doesn't suffice for most careerists. That said, if you do well at Wheaton and get a good internship while you're there, you won't have too much trouble getting into some of the best law schools around.

[FYI, I am a current junior political science at Wheaton.]

My friend's son is a freshman at Wheaton & has never been happier. The football team went on a one-week mission to Europe during a break to as a bonding experience where they helped those less fortunate. He has tried to recruit his HS friends to join him & has made many new friends at Wheaton. He hopes to become a physician.
