The Harvard Waitlist Waiting Room 2014 Thread

Stats shouldn’t be too bad…I plan on doing some prep tonight and tomorrow morning. I am contemplating writing a “why Harvard” supplemental piece for the admissions committee. If I do that I’ll write it up tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone as we enter AP season! Which exams are you all taking?

hey guys,

wow i totally did not see this thread (: i accepted my waitlist offer last week.

i also didn’t realize that the admissions office does additional interviews for waitlist-ers. do they only pick from people they re-interview? or does availability have something to do with it?

Hmmmm that is a good question…I have no idea! Oh yeah, I am taking AP calculus and English Lit. I stayed up till 12:30 am last Friday to fully wrap my head around the derivatives of inverse trig functions, e, ln, and all that “good” stuff.

Adding journeverte (welcome! :)) to the list. We are now at 39.

Remember, if people want to state their locations and interests, we’ll add those to the list as well. Thanks!

This year I’m doing … French, Physics C, Lang, Bio, World, and Stats … last year I did …
Calc BC, Chem, Gov, and Music Theory, … in ninth grade they didn’t let me take AP classes :frowning: … totally unfair …

I’m from Western NY.

I think that they will take off more that 50 people. They are probably using yield estimates from before they even sent out acceptance notifications.

I think they should just use the list we have right here on this thread … take all of us …

“I think that they will take off more that 50 people.”
I agree with cicero. Everything I’ve heard from admits and people who know admits is that a lot more than usual have been turning Harvard down (of course, this is very much anecdotal).

I’m taking AP Gov, Stats, Eng Lit, Euro Hist, Physic C (M and E&M), Psych, Macro, and Micro. This seems like a lot, but I’ve gotten through high school without studying, so I figure why start now? Good luck to everyone taking AP tests (and those losers taking IB, lol).

They also let in 64 more people this year than last year. I wouldn’t get our hopes high for a waitlist over 50. Let’s wait and see what the crimson says later on in the week.

we’re up to 40 now -

hi!! i’ve been reading this thread for a while, and I finally made a username account :). All you guys are taking so many APs (I’m only taking 2 which I’m finishing tmrw yeeeeeeeeeee) Hope they take a lotta ppl off this list.

And gluck with all your AP exams. I’m from SoCal btw ;D

Once again: I’m having faith! In the words of qixizite: Kumbaya and Optimism!

Awwww thanks! I love being quoted! I’m taking around 5 APs (I can’t actually remember how many). My rant about APs is that most of them have such nice curves that if you are good at answering multiple choice questions (like the SAT) it is pretty easy to get a 4 without studying too hard (besides for foreign language tests). I tried this out last year to great affect (is that the right ‘affect’?).

In terms of the waitlist, it makes perfect sense that they planned on admitting 50 people because they were basing that number off of last year’s yield. But I maintain that they will accept around 70 because I really want to be right (although more would be great to).

-Optimism!

No problem, friend :-)! I am having faith that it is going to be 50+! Call me crazy but hey…it feels good ^_^

Well I have a new topic to pass the time: What are you guys going to study if you get accepted to Harvard? (Remember last year, people got off the waitlist on CC and that person may just be you. Keep that in mind!) I will start! English :D

D is majoring in Poli Sci, minor is Theatre. Entertainment Lawyer. Combines the two things she loves most. And I concur with Plumazul, they should just take the CC’ers here and be done for the year?
