The Harvard Waitlist Waiting Room 2014 Thread

so i emailed my regional officer and she’s out of office until the 17th… how? why?? is it just to avoid talking to students, etc and focus on the deliberation? or is she really out of office? that just seems odd to me

I bet they’ll give offers to more than 70. For the Class of 2013 they said they’d only give out offers to 85 and that turned into 100+.

I’m actually on MIT’s waitlist as well, but if I get off I’m leaning right now on still going to Penn.

And I agree with cicero. They have to factor in WL yield and other factors, plus their 65-75 estimate was probably just conservative so they didn’t overstate how many they would take off.

Boggler I’m in a similar situation to you. I’m on waitlists for MIT, CalTech, and Harvard. I got into JHU, and I wasn’t happy at first; I had done CTY through JHU for a while but never knew what JHU’s academics and campus were like. But as soon as I got there I realized how much I liked it. In fact, I liked it better than MIT. If I get off MIT’s waitlist it will be a difficult decision between JHU and MIT (but with Harvard I would most likely accept the offer).

Hi people, i am also on the waitlist. I faxed them an update 3 weeks back and thought that they would send a confirmation that they received it some time later. But till now there is no confirmation. What shud I do? How do i confirm the receipt of my update.

Hi!

I’m on the Harvard 2014 waitlist as well. I just found this.

I’m currently enrolled at Caltech for fall 2010.

Hope we all get in!

Hey guys,

I got waitlisted too, but I’ve already paid a deposit to Penn, so as of now I’m going to Wharton.

A question, my school counselor pulled me out of class the other day to ask me how I’m doing, where I’m planning on going, etc and she mentioned Harvard had called her. She wouldn’t tell me anything else, but she said it was “exciting.” Has anyone else’s school been contacted? Just trying to figure out what it means, I don’t want to get my hopes up.

Thanks!

Oh, and when will they get back to us? I hate not knowing where I’m going to go to college - and I’m just plain anxious!

Could you add me to the list? I am also waitlisted.

bell9079: check previous Harvard waitlist threads…not sure if it means anything or not (but it can’t be a bad sign). Either way, we’ll know in a week or so (hopefully) what it meant.

looks like about 65 will come off the list, just about like last year.

By June 30th most wait list decisions will be made.

Thanks dar5995. We appreciate how everyone posts the links to new yield articles, but because we are obsessive waitlistees, just remember to look back a page or two and make sure that we didn’t post the same link. Still, greatly appreciated!

-Optimism!

Hopefully we’ll see calls next Tuesday or so. Just for clarification, who did get a confirmation of their updates?

I didn’t get confirmation; just an email response from the fileroom email address which I assume was automated

I contacted my regional officer regarding updates and she confirmed it via email in a few hours.

Originally I had snail mailed it to Harvard directly.

I just sent in my last update via email but my officer had an “out of office” notice until Monday…oh well, now we wait.

@guitar01
SAME HERE! do you live in VA by any chance?

I sent mine in via snail mail as well but I may have screwed up the name of my regional officer and haven’t gotten confirmation of an update at all. Not even something automated. Should I call?

@gunther6456,

I was told that when you mail it in, no message will be sent because “it’s certain” they got it. They said that “sometimes” they reply if you fax or e-mail something.

I’m just happy that AP exams and finals are over and I can now get a proper amount of sleep … can barely believe it.
