Really faulty reasoning there. Facebook groups can vary to real class size and facebook groups. You can A, try comparing older groups, several of them just to see how much variation in proportion there is between these groups, class of 2010, 2011, 2012 etc. Furthermore, not everyone who has accepted Harvard’s offer has joined the group online.

Well, comparing older groups wouldn’t really be worth it. Considering that facebook groups have grown in popularity, facebook itself has grown in popularity, and many colleges put a lot of their stuff on facebook now, you’ll probably get a group that is close to the size of the incoming class. Last year was only off by 150.

Nice sleuthing, cicero. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. This weekend is the pre-frosh visit weekend, so some undecideds will probably start deciding by Monday. Keep an eye on it and keep us posted! :)

Meanwhile, on the UChicago waitlist thread, a couple of people have already been accepted.

@Cicero: Very nice observation =).
@HurtLocker: Really? Hmmmm…interesting. But I think other CC-ers are debating if one of the accepted waitlistees is a ■■■■■ or not, so who knows? The suspense continues! lol

I’m sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but I’ll ask anyway: Is Harvard going to want our third quarter grades? Because mine were across the board poor – I’m counting on fourth quarter to pull them up to reasonable levels. Are they going to call my school and request them?

Well I believe now whatever you send in is contingent upon your own judgment. They aren’t going to require documents anymore like in January. BUT they could contact you or your GC and ask for them, and in that case, you should definitely send it.

^ Agreed. Everyone I’ve talked to says that there’s no need to send them unless asked. (Or unless they make you look good and you WANT to send them.)

Only send what makes you look good unless they specifically request something.

Is it a problem that I haven’t sent anything yet?
Have all of you at least sent your first round of updates?
I only plan on sending one letter…

Vickroz, I am just drafting my first letter, and my recs are being written. I’m probably the blind leading the blind, but I hope it’s a small consolation that you aren’t the only one who’s behind.

That said, I’m thinking about mailing my letter via express delivery.

Thanks
I really don’t think it’s a huge deal, though. They don’t even know yield until May 1st, and they’re busy with pre-frosh and all that right now.
I don’t think they’re even thinking about us until after Saturday.

I sent in one update letter and don’t think that I will send in any additional update letters; one should be sufficient. I’d send on those letters asap; I know that the committee won’t meet assuming they have to until a week after the first, but time is running short.

cicero, what’s the number of members in the FB class of 2014 now that the prefrosh weekend is over? (I don’t do FB or I would check myself).

Well FB doesn’t have the “Join A Group” button but the “Like” button. It is has 742 members and some of the members are from the class of 2013.

The group for the official Harvard Class of 2014 has 889 members and you have to join.

Ok well never mind, my mistake lol.

Still seems a little low compared to last year anyways. Always hoping. Sent my waitlist letter today.

fb page up to 919 tonight.

Well the numbers probably aren’t indicative of anything until May 1st or a little after. People are still deciding where to go.

I wonder what the group’s size was around this time last year…hmmm…I’m going to have to do a bit of searching in the old waitlist thread for 2013.
