The History of CC

Hello Everyone,

I have one question to moderators. What is the history of CC?
It’s really great website with its own traditions, stories and so on, but I know nothing about its beginning and depeloping.

Not only me, but many CCers will be glad to hear it, I think!

Yeah… I’ve been here for almost a year, and I don’t know anything about how it was.

Perhaps a mod could help us out?

Jeez, I’ll see if I can flag Roger (Admin, a co-founder) to stop in. I rarely poke my nose in this section.

I’ve been posting for three years and I think that I’m the longest continuously-posting poster here. There was one who had been posting for about a month or two longer but I think he’s gone away now.

I guess that makes me one of the longest member lurker’s then. I started lurking and posting rarely when son was a soph in high school (2000/01). Back then it was a good day when we’d have 5 posts. Things have changed alot!

We’re a bit busy keeping up with traffic, but I’ll be sure to pop in here and reply when I can do it justice. Thanks for asking, stardragon. And thanks for sticking with us, 1tcm!

Double whups…I think I forgot to flag Roger…glad he found it…and 1tcm, you have me beat then. It was almost exactly three years ago that I first logged on to CC when my D was a sophomore in hs and had just gotten her PSAT scores.

how does one become a moderator?

Post your arse off in a certain forum with very intelligent posts. I have heard its not what its cracked up to be, they pay you in cheese sticks and most of your time is spent deleting offense threads and/or posts.

All CC mods are volunteers. Cheese sticks would be a pay increase, but I like the idea. Moderators are invited or volunteer. Among the key characterstics are a long-term history of solid participation here and good people skills. College admissions knowledge is great, but the ability to calm down potential flames, deal with new members who may not know our expectations, nudge threads back on topic, etc. are more important.
