got accepted to the honors program and i really know nothing about it
my question is (if current students in the honors program are out there, your help would be appreciated) if the quailty of the program adds anything to my education, how strong science is for the program, and generally what is the education quality
im so clueless, i really should know stuff like this- but any comments would be greatly appreciated

I have a tag-along question. I wasn’t invited to the Honors program for freshman fall semster, but is there a possibility to be invited (or accepted into) the program for following semesters or years? Thanks!

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. You can self-nominate yourself for sophomore year, that’s about it. I think there’s a certain GPA, a 3.5 or above, that you must maintain to get in.

I am a current AU student. I’m not in the honors program, but I have a few friends are.

My friends who are in it all kinda say that the program doesn’t really add all that much to their AU education. They only need to take a few “honors” classes which are taught by professors that all students have. It looks great on a transcript and they like living on the Honors Hall. Other than that there isn’t like a HUGE difference. I’m not sure about the science question though.

Also, you can self nominate yourself. My friend did that second semester of her freshman year and she got in. She also has won an honors award so they really don’t look at her any different.

And yeah, you need a high GPA. 3.5 or 3.6 I’m not 100% sure. If you get in go for it! It will only help you.
