I read the other thread and I’m estatic that all of you also recieved this tape. I don’t know what it means at all but I’m very happy that I recieved it, although I recieved mine from Ms. Ginger Mace, who also claims to be a Program Director.

Does anyone know what “tape - mediated” means. Is it an entirely oral examination? Does anyone know the format? I want to study up the next 2-3 days and try to do my best.

I just spoke to a Hunstmaner now in her 2nd year, and she says that the oral test is sent to about 300 of the 700 or so applicants. so proportion that how you want, i feel like its only one more hurdle but by no means a guaranteed spot.

Zirkon, I somehow would not be surprised if it was a placement test...because Dredhead and others have said that the kids in Huntsman...some of them are only in intro. language and struggling and others are in other classes....and I don't think they give you another test for language proficiency after you are in....

And plus, another story I heard was about an International applicant. I guess she mailed her test back snail mail across the pacific, and no way was it possible that the Penn ppl got it in time for their decisions. But, she was accepted when she checked..and she was pretty sure they have not received the tape back...weird huh?

I am so confused. Does the letter not look like it's signed by Ginger? (it's like actual ink on paper). Maybe she got everyone to sign it for her...but then again...why?

Well, some people enter in one language and then switch I heard

I would probably be only a class or two after intro myself

I think (personally, no expertise whatsoever and I haven't talked to any huntsman kids) that its one last check for people they would like to admit, make sure they have some writing and speaking skills.

And yes, my letter is signed with a blue ballpoint pen

holy ****. society has degressed to nothingness after that last post of yours, catchy. "it looks like she never lifted her pen from mine, what does that mean? omg so nervous!"

Are the huntsman committees over already? I can't grasp the time line! Think about it. If committe HAS NOT EVEN STARTED, how did they send those tapes? If the Huntsman ppl weed out the ppl themselves, then it would take at least all next week (maybe a little bit more) for them to get all of the tests back, so that would run it all the way till the week of decisions...do they go into committees then? When alll of the reg. committees are already over and the decisions for others are already made? I am mucho confused.

And after hard and long thought, I came up with this strategy for myself:

Study, do well, and wait.

(Anyone else find it funny we are all helping each other out so much, even though we are competing for those same 25 slots? Refreshing to see that, though I feel like I am competing with the adcom more than anyone else)

How do you study for it though? I am just going to take it. Chinese isn't hard for me. Good luck Zirkon.

Everyone: Last year's oral prompt:

Comment on US Foreign Policy in your designated language.

As with the 25 slots, I actually don't see why all of us Can't get in. Even though it seems like a lot of ppl on CC is applying, there're only like 10 kids really I think...and we are like doing different languages too...the only reason we seem like a huge population is because kids like me post too much.

One last note. If anyone would get rejected here on CC, it would be me. Seriously, my stats suck. So, if anybody gets a no from Huntsman, it's me. Good luck guys!

Ginger Mace can probably sign about 300 letters in a few minutes. Also, when I visited Capitol Hill last summer, most of the senators had stamps that looked like real signatures.

I am just practicing writing and imagining possible questions

I figure its all that I can do, but if they ask me anything about something I have no vocabulary of, well, then I hope its true or false and I guess
