The I FAILED FRENCH AP thread

first of all, French AP is definitely hard and I knew that before going into the exam...the good thing is I really just don't care about this particular AP..LOL. I got some other APs (more important ones) so I don't really care

so anyways, I'll start. I got a...2! Whoohooo!

DUring the exam I:
1) didn't understand most of the passages
2) guessed about 60% of the questions
3) BOMBED the speaking (my tape was bascially "uhhhhh...uhhhh...je....uuhhhh")

but ya, like i said this is really (for me) just a joke AP, one that I don't care about LOLL...so what about you?

Off topic I never knew you had to speak and record yourself for a language exam. :o

2400from604, would you mind shedding some insight upon the format and type of questions/sections on the AP French test?

I got a 1… :)

I got a 2 on French Lit … but I’m going to have it cancelled.

I think I did fine on the listening and most of the reading passages, and I dominated the grammar part, but I froze up on the speaking and essay. I got a 3, which isn’t failing, but I thought I had a chance at a 4 since I got a 720 on the subject test. But the fact that I did fairly well on the subject test, which is just grammar and reading comprehension (I did the one w/o listening), supports the fact that I suck at speaking and writing. XD

I feel the exact same thing… Except I took the AP Spanish Language exam instead and I haven’t received my scores yet. I wish I could order my Speaking Tape because it would be so hilarious to hear myself say “Uh…uh…pues…con…” for about 5 minutes.LOL!

Got a 3, which is about what I expected. That listening was absurd! And then I couldn’t do the makeup they offered because my school wouldn’t allow me to miss more class due to standardized testing…ugh. Oh well.

I thought the essay was pretty easy (a very general prompt), the fill-ins were about average, the reading was a bit harder than I expected, the listening was totally wack, and the speaking was fine.

^^ I thought the same about the whole test. I got a 3 too. It was hard. Honestly it was my hardest AP test. It doesnt matter though. AP Foreign Language doesnt matter. I didn’t study at all because i knew my resources would be better placed in other tests. Its all the native speakers that kill the curve… =[

That’s what I heard from the admissions people too. Language APs (except Latin) don’t matter much cauz the native speakers screw up the curves.

okay, i didn’t fail the AP, but i really wanted a 5. (i got a 4)

i’ve always thought i was randomly naturally good at french, seeing as i skipped french 2 and stayed number 1 in a pretty difficult french class ever since. (so 3 years of learning the language)
goes to show you that you should NOT be overconfident in your own abilities!!
so i think i didn’t study enough (i dont really know HOW to study for french)
and i feel like i messed up the essay by not writing on a good topic and probably did average on listening and reading cuz i usually get like average…
yeahhhh

umg i got a 2. my teachers gonna flip

I got a 4. I was about to cancel it. My speaking section was TERRIBLE. I had so many prolonged periods of silence… Ugh.

I don’t know about you all but I got really thrown off by the weird lack of pauses right at the beginning of the listening…I was like WHAT’S GOING ON HERE and was super-flustered for the next 5 or 6 listening questions.
