If I am correct it basically means that your school is pretty tough on the grading. Basically it means that grades don't get curved at all and that teachers might even strive to give B's to the class. However colleges look at you in the context of your school so that won't matter too much. Of course I could just be completely wrong.

"grades don't get curved at all and that teachers might even strive to give B's to the class"

Hmmm. Iām a high school Junior, whoās expecting a 4.3 weighted and 3.85 unweighted, but my SAT scores are far below where I want them to be. (1820 for now) Would any of you guys think that with a bunch of ecs and a well written personal statement, Iād still have a shot at : Cal, Cornell, and Columbia?

Iām flippinā out. D;

First off, do not think that you canāt improve your current SATs. I went from 188 > 195 > 2030 >2020 > 2220 barely studying at all for the SATs. For many, your cognitive development dramatically augments during a certain period in high school, so donāt give up hope yet. From what I hear, schools like Cornell are very much holistically reviewed (I got in with a 3.38), so you still have a solid chance.

Level 5: 3.5/3.6, 2050 SAT

I got into Wellesley, Tufts, Penn, Claremont McKenna, GW with nice merit aid, McGill, and waitlisted at Stanford. Off to Tufts!

Got into Wake Forest, NYU, GWU, UMiami, UMaryland, Penn State (Univ. Park), & Rutgers. Waitlisted at Tufts, Vanderbilt, & Lehigh.

This thread makes me so happy :)
