<p>seriously though. A sense of humor is the clincher for me. If you can make me laugh, you've got my heart. Gotten some crazy and unlikely crushes out of that one. And someone who doesn't think too highly of himself. And sexy is also a bonus. :)</p>

I may not be über-girly, but I like it when a guy opens doors for me and is willing to call me up and ask me to the movies or to dinner!)</p>

<p>Hahaha ok well, I suppose this is only fair seeing as there's about five or so "what's the ideal girl?" threads floating around.</p>
<p>I'll start with personality first because that's the thing that's most important to me when I'm looking for "ideal dating material" (also known as IDM, MUN-style). IDM is intelligent, thoughtful, and funny. He's more of an extrovert but not overly loud and in your face. IDM is a gentleman but also has a bit of a dirty sense of humor; he's not overly gentlemanly in that he can still be seen as enjoying typical "guy humor." He's comfortable with talking about any subject whatsoever and is open and truthful with me (because no one likes liars). Also, he needs to understand that the past is the past and that people can make mistakes. IDM is therefore someone who admires/loves me for me as a person but doesn't put me on a pedestal or treat me like I'm a princess. Yes, it's nice when IDM holds the door for me and is happy to pay for dinner, but I don't want him telling me "you're perfect" or "you're the best girl in the world." He needs to be a realist and understand that no one's perfect. In other words, IDM recognizes my flaws and quirks and likes me even more because of them.</p>
<p>Appearance-wise, IDM is on the taller side (5'8" and up). That way we don't become known as "the short couple" (I'm 5'3"). Body-type preferences would probably be for toned guys... not overly muscular, not overly slender. Brown hair is best, preferably when it's a bit shaggy. Eye color... honey brown, brown, hazel, green, and blue in that order of preference. Also, I like a few wisps of hair on the chin, kind of like a mini-goatee. Lastly, I'm not a big fan of copious quantities of body hair. So yeah, IDM doesn't have much in the way of chest hair, only a few wisps around the nipples and a happy trail :-).</p>
<p>Oh and also, it's best if he's not strongly religious or strongly conservative. I'm not one who likes arguing, but if atheism or liberalism bother him, we might have issues.</p>
<p>And lastly, smoking isn't so hot nor is excessive drinking. If he drinks, it's "for the taste" and not "for getting wasted" and it doesn't happen too frequently.</p>

<p>Appearance-wise, I like a guy to be taller than me (at least 5'9"), bigger than me (but not overweight), dark hair cut shortish, dresses like he takes care of himself, and clean.</p>
<p>According to my anthropology professor: Girls like guys who have a 0.7 waist-to-hip ratio, are slightly older in age, ambitious, and are at the 70th percentile of the socioeconomic ladder. Evidence of testosterone (deep voice, muscle bulk helps but not sure about body hair).</p>

<p>First off...
-can hold an intellectual conversation, but also listen well
-can truly respect smart women. I've had it with guys who say that they want to be with a girl who is smart, but not as smart as or smarter than them. So what if she makes more than you? So what if she's smarter? Do you honestly think that you're less of a man if you're with a really smart girl? I find that a lot of normally really great guys suddenly become very shallow in this respect, and it bugs the hell out of me. </p>
<p>And of secondary importance...
-can play a musical instrument/sing (okay, so this one isn't a requirement, but I play instruments and sing, so connecting on that level is really fun)
-has a sense of humour (more Monty Python than Chuck Norris though)
-has a decent build and brown hair (I like 'em dark and mysterious)
-is not extreme in the political or religious sense, but cares enough to pay attention to issues (and vote! that's one thing I definetly believe in, and I would be annoyed with someone apathetic)</p>

<p>I never had much of a type before I fell head over heels for my ex, except I prefered blondes. Well, he broke that mold completely, being Hispanic and all. </p>

is smart
likes to go out and do things, not a homebody
dresses well
treats me well, opens doors, etc
doesn't mind me drinking, and/or will drink with me
Not obese-- I'm not skinny, but I don't want someone that's frickin huge</p>
<p>Being hot helps (personality figures into the hotness most of the time), as well as being able to dance. I absolutely love to dance, so I want someone who's not either just going to sit there and be like "dancing's for sissies" or just stand there and sway. I used to say I would not go for anyone who smoked, but I don't mind smokers, actually; every guy I've ever dated (which is not many, but still) was a smoker. Oh, and I refuse to date someone who is avidly religious. I live in the bible belt, I get enough religion shoved down my throat on a daily basis out in the world, I don't need it shoved down my throat at home too. </p>

<p>Anyway, about the question, I think people should stop fantasizing about the ideal man or the ideal girl, and just go out in the world and interact with actual people, who have qualities and flaws. The ideal man doesn't exist.</p>
<p>Ok...I'll start with the physical (I'm honest...looks do matter)
- Taller than me or at least the same height...but 6'2-6'5 is ideal
- Lean and athletic is preferred
- Attractive...I tend to like dark hair and pretty eyes (something unusual like color changing or deep shades of blue and green get me)
- Dresses mostly in jeans and t-shirts, but nice jeans and button-up shirts are nice to mix in
- And I have to admit that I'm into the stubble</p>
<p>And now personality...
- Must be at least as intelligent as I am
- Must have a great sense of humor similar to mine
- Must have good morals and values...there's no bigger turn-off for me than a man-whore that gets completely wasted several times a week
- Must be competitive but still have a good attitude when losing...I hate when guys try to let me win...I don't need their help, I'll beat them on my own and they better not cry about it when I do
- Talented at many things
- Loyal and trustworthy
- Honest
- Isnt too much of a social butterfly, but still enjoys hanging out with many different types of people every now and then
- Loves to travel or is at least willing to be dragged along on my many adventures :)
- Has enough guts to tell me when I'm overreacting or being dumb but can do it in a way that doesn't just hurt my feelings
- Can make me laugh/smile no matter how crappy my day's been
- Helps me to feel good about myself and encourages me
- Loves animals and can tolerate my strange choices of pets
- Enjoys all types of music</p>
